What was once considered a niche segment has become a more cost-effective commute option for environmentally conscious car buyers. Leading carmakers are introducing advanced EV models and EV versions of their bestselling cars. The Tata Nexon EV is one such well-planned initiative from Tata Motors to make a mark in the affordable EV market.

The Nexon EV debuted in 2020 as the brand's first EV model. Its performance, range, and affordable price bracket quickly made it famous. The Nexon EV has received a significant upgrade with the launch of the facelift version on 14 September 2023. This article compares the design, powertrain, pricing, variants, and features of the old and new Nexon EVs.

Tata Nexon EV: Comparing Old vs New Model

Design and Exterior

The new Nexon EV's exterior design elements and interior amenities have significantly changed. While it carries forward the signature style that made its older iteration famous, the new Nexon EV is even more appealing. In the following sections, we will compare the design and exterior features of the old and new Tata Nexon EV

Old Tata Nexon EV

Tata designed the original Nexon EV using its IMPACT 2.0 philosophy. It featured a unique Tri-arrow design aesthetic, including projector headlamps with Tr-arrow DRLs at the front and signature tail lamps. Additionally, it included 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels for added style and stability.

The electric blue accents in the humanity line, side beltline, and X-factor were vital features. The body-coloured door handles added harmony, while the electric sunroof with tilt function offered stunning skyward views. The floating roof effect (dual tone) with a shark fin antenna and roof rails completed the look.

The old Nexon EV measured 3993mm in length, 1811mm in width, and 1606mm in height. Its wheelbase was 2498mm. The old Nexon EV was available in Signature Teal Blue and Glacier White.

New Tata Nexon EV

The facelift of Nexon EV's front fascia, with split LED headlamps, is sleek and futuristic. The new Nexon EV has smart digital DRLs with a welcome and goodbye sequence. The iconic X factor with a welcome and goodbye sequence at the back offers a distinct digital appearance. The spoiler hides the rear wiper. Aero inserts adorn the R16 alloy wheels. The Nexon EV badging appears on the front doors and the tailgate.

It measures 3994mm in length, 1811mm in width and 1616mm in height. The wheelbase is 2498mm. The new Nexon EV has seven colour options: Flame Red, Fearless Purple, Daytona Grey, Empowered Oxide, Pristine White, Intense Teal, and Creative Ocean.

Comparison of the Old and New Designs

The new Nexon EV is 1mm longer and 10mm taller. The base silhouette is the same, but the design is more contemporary. Vertical struts replace the Tri-arrow design theme on the bumper. The new Nexon EV comes with split LED headlamps as a first. The 16-inch alloy wheels also have a changed design. The most noticeable change is the replacement of the blue accents with the Nexon—EV badging. The new Nexon EV looks modern and minimal.
