The Tata Nexon EV is an electric compact SUV designed and developed by the homegrown automaker. Tata Motors launched the Tata Nexon EV facelift in the country on September 14, 2023. The new avatar of the electric SUV gets a new look on the outside and inside. The Nexon EV facelift also brings a host of new features, which makes it even better.

The Tata Nexon EV facelift comes with a 30kWh or 40.5 kWh battery pack that translates to a driving range of 325 km and 465 km, respectively, on a single charge. The electric SUV also supports fast charging; you can juice the battery from 10% to 80% in just 56 minutes. You can also charge the Nexon EV Max with the standard home electrical socket. However, it is suitable for overnight charging as the charging time increases.

Exterior Design

The Tata Nexon facelift features a similar exterior design as the ICE Nexon facelift, although with subtle differences. The front fascia of the Nexon EV facelift features sleek LED DRLs, and they are connected by an LED light bar, which results in cool animation when you lock/unlock or charge the electric SUV. It also has a different front bumper with prominent vertical elements.

The Tata Nexon EV's side profile remains unchanged, with a similar silhouette and lines. However, the Nexon EV facelift gets new alloy wheels, elevating the electric SUV's stance.

The rear profile of the Nexon EV facelift gets similar updates as its ICE sibling. The rear fascia features new LED tail lights with an LED light bar running across the tailgate. The chunky spoiler does the job of hiding the rear wiper. Tata Motors has ditched the blue accents on the exterior for the EV. Instead, it gets subtle EV badges.

Interior and Features

Similar to the exterior design, Nexon EV facelift's interior is also completely overhauled. The interior features a premium design that excels in practicality. The horizontal lines on the dashboard and the new two-spoke steering backlit steering wheel give the cabin an upmarket look.

It also gets a larger floating touchscreen infotainment system and a fully digital display for the instrument cluster with EV-specific graphics. The overall fit and finish and the quality of materials used inside the cabin have improved by miles, and it's a commendable job by Tata Motors.

The facelifted Nexon EV comes with a host of features like an electric sunroof, ventilated front seats, cruise control, automatic climate control, rear AC vents, wireless charging, a 360-degree camera, etc. Note that some of these features may be limited to top-spec variants.

Tata Nexon EV Battery Capacity

The Tata Nexon EV draws power from a choice of two battery pack options instead of a conventional engine - the first has a 30kWh capacity integrated with an electric motor producing 129 bhp and 215Nm torque, offering a 325km range per full charge. The second features a larger 40.5 kWh pack for more range, mated to a 144 bhp, 215Nm motor, delivering an extended 465km range between charges. Customers can opt as per needs between optimising on upfront cost or maximum distance coverage with these two battery and motor configurations that ensure efficient, zero-emission operation.

Tata Nexon EV Transmission

The Tata Nexon EV has a front-wheel (FWD) drivetrain with an automatic transmission. Specifically, it comes with an automatic gearbox without having a separate manual mode. This electric SUV does not have a traditional manual or automated manual transmission like other vehicles. By having an FWD electric motor power the front wheels through its automatic system, the Nexon EV provides smooth, uninterrupted power delivery without manually shifting gears.

The electric motor offers brisk acceleration with instant torque. The 4.6 second 0-60kmph sprint makes daily commuting effortless. Both battery variants have a top speed of 120kmph. Tata Nexon Ground Clearance

The Tata Nexon EV stands tall, with ample ground clearance of 205mm. This headroom underneath the electric SUV allows it to tackle speed bumps, potholes, and moderate uneven terrain without scraping the underbody. Safety

The Tata Nexon EV facelift has standard safety features like six front airbags, ABS, EBD, Corner Stability Control, ISOFIX child seat mounts, Electronic Stability Program, traction control, TPMS (Tyre Pressure Monitoring System), hill ascent control, reverse parking sensors, etc. The top-spec models get additional equipment like hill descent control, a blind spot view monitor, an electronic parking brake, a rear defogger, etc.

Exterior Updates

While retaining the overall silhouette, Tata Motors has significantly refreshed the styling of the new Nexon EV facelift. The front end features a new split LED headlamp design and revised bumpers. At the rear, stylish new connecting LED tail lamps modernise the look. New 16-inch alloy wheel designs and the absence of the signature EV blue accents further differentiate the facelift.

Interior Updates

The cabin is now anchored by a large 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, replacing the older 7-inch unit. The instrument cluster is also brand new - a 10.25-inch fully digital and configurable unit. Further additions include a wireless phone charger, fast-charging USB ports, drive mode selector and an e-shifter. The facelift also brings three interior theme options to choose from.

On the powertrain front, the medium-range and long-range variants continue with the proven 30kWh and 40.5kWh battery packs, respectively. But enhanced internals have extracted more range - up to 325km on the smaller battery and 465km from the bigger pack. The electric motors deliver 127hp and 143hp on each variant.
