The BYD SEAL seamlessly fuses innovation and power. After much anticipation, the electric sedan was launched in India on March 5, 2024, and it did not disappoint. Inspired by the "Ocean Aesthetics" design idea, the BYD SEAL features a longer wheelbase, streamlined appearance, and lower body posture. From exterior styling to interior technology, it exudes the futuristic exuberance of a luxury EV. 

The BYD SEAL's exterior design language, especially the front bonnet, is sure to catch attention based on its simple yet modern shape. The exterior boasts a number of noteworthy elements, such as waterdrop-shaped ORVMs, flush door handles, 19-inch alloy wheels, glittering "Ripple" lamps, LED DRLs, and double-up LED headlights. A silver-plated panoramic glass roof shines bright on top. 

The interiors are equally impressive and carry forward the oceanic theme. The leather, tactile, and suede seats offer comfort and come with memory functions for top variants. They provide lumbar support, and the front seats also come with heating and ventilation as standard features. A crystal effect on the gear adds the right amount of luxury. 

A 15.6-inch self-adapting rotating infotainment screen and a 10.25-inch full LCD driver display enhance the dashboard area. FM Radio, Smartphone connectivity, Bluetooth connectivity, and voice assist are standard features. A 12-speaker DYNAUDIO enhances the sound experience, and the RGB mood lights elevate the cabin ambience.

The BYD SEAL comes in three variants: Dynamic, Premium, and Performance. It has two battery pack options, 61.44 kWh and 82.56 kWh, and different ranges. The battery is paired to a 1-speed automatic transmission, and the range is between 510 km. and 650 km. 

Exemplary safety features are present on the BYD SEAL, earning it a five-star rating in ANCAP and Euro NCAP crash tests. Standard features include nine airbags, ISOFIX with child seat anchors, and a 360-degree camera. A whole array of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), such as auto emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, and lane keep assist, are also included.

The waterdrop-shaped side mirrors, inspired by the ocean, were made to boost visibility. The doors with electronically retractable door handles are wind-resistant and sleek. Upon unlocking, the keyless entry and start feature extends. 

Interior and Features

Steeping into the cabin space is like entering a realm of subtle luxury. The Dynamic Range comes with imitation leather, while the Premium Range and Performance come with genuine leather upholstery. The bolstered sports seats are available and are equipped with electronic adjustability, memory, heating, ventilation, and sportiness. The rear row's 60/40 split-folding seats are roomy, cosy, and adaptable, making for a pleasurable ride. The memory function is only available for top variants. 

The focal point of the design is the crystal gearshift lever, which was inspired by water drops. The cup holder on the driver's side is likewise height-adjustable. The expansive and airy impression of the opulent cabin is ensured by the silver-plated panoramic glass ceiling, which boasts 1.9 mm of vast viewing area, less than 4.2% visible light transmittance, and less than 16% solar transmission. All of this is coupled with a guarantee of more than a 99% ultraviolet isolation rate.

The "Ocean Aesthetics" theme was used to build the cosy cockpit of the BYD SEAL, which resulted in a lively and tranquil environment. A simple finger touch may rotate the 15.6-inch self-adapting rotating infotainment screen to create an interactive experience. The car's careful design and superb craftsmanship are a testament to its high calibre. Advanced Windscreen Heads-Up Display is equipped with data such as car speed and fully programmable placement for ADAS systems. 

The 10.25-inch full LCD screen instrument displays driving-related information such as the power meter, speedometer, state of charge (SOC), and remaining driving range. It also offers up to 15W of dual efficient wireless charging.

Battery and Transmission

BYD SEAL Battery Capacity

The BYD SEAL India Spec comes with two Lithium-ion battery pack choices with different performances. The battery type is BYD Blade Battery. The SEAL Dynamic Range has a 61.44 kWh battery that offers a power of 201.15 bhp and a torque of 310 Nm. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.5 seconds. 

The Premium Range and Performance come with an 82.56 kWh battery. The Premium Range has a power output of 308.43 bhp and torque of 360 Nm. It can go from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds. The performance has the power of 522.99 bhp and 670 Nm of torque. This variant can go from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds.

The Dynamic Range has a 7kW AC charging port -Type 2 and a 110 kW DC charging port - CCS 2. The Premium Range and Performance come with the standard AC charging port -Type 2 of 7kW and a 150 kW DC charging port- CCS 2.

The BYD SEAL offers four driving modes: Eco, Snow, Sports, and Normal. Besides, the sloping low-slung design offers a stellar drag coefficient that increases the range by 8 km. The perfect axle load ratio guarantees stability and better control. The advanced iTAC, or Intelligence Torque Adaption Control System, adjusts the car's torque dynamically, offering a seamless driving experience in any terrain.

The BYD SEAL Dynamic Range offers a range of 510 km. on a single charge, the Premium Range offers an extensive range of 650 km. and the performance stays in the middle with 580 km. on a single charge.

BYD SEAL Ground Clearance

The BYD SEAL has 145 mm of unladen ground clearance. Therefore, speed breakers must be handled carefully, and it is necessary to go slow over taller ones. It is best to avoid off-road travelling, especially on one with too many potholes and bumpers. Careful handling over standard speed breakers can help avoid under-scrapping.

Safety

The BYD SEAL is packed with safety features.  It has earned a five-star rating in ANCAP and Euro NCAP crash tests. Nine airbags: two front airbags for the driver and front passenger, two side airbags for the driver and front passenger, two side curtain airbags for front and rear, far-side airbags for the driver, and side airbags for rear passengers are present. Besides, it comes with a dual seat pre-tensioner and seat belt reminder for the front and rear seatbelts, a 360-degree camera, a Traction Control System (TCS), ABS with EBD, TPMS, lane departure warning and prevention, adaptive cruise control, ISOFIX child seat anchors for three seats, electronic child lock, Hill-hold assist, electronic parking brake with auto hold, and electronic stability program. 

Advanced driver assistance features include a 2-zone front parking sensor and a 4-zone rear parking sensor, an intelligent power brake system, Blind Spot Detection (BSD), Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC), Emergency Lane Keeping Assist(ELKA), Predictive Collision Warning (PCW), Front Cross and Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Traffic Brake, Driver Attention Warning (DAW), Door Open Warning (DOW), High-Bean Assist (HMA), Intelligent Speed Limit information (ISLI), and Intelligent Speed Limit Control (ISLC). 

The BYD SEAL further integrates with the latest Blade Battery Technology, which establishes new standards of safety in the EV segment.
