Hyundai says it will double the sales of the last car. That shouldn’t be difficult since it had started to kind of disappear from the buyer’s mind anyway. So, can this new Verna defeat the Honda City, Skoda Slavia, and Volkswagen Virtus?

Exclusive! The Hyundai Verna is the first Korean brand car to score 5 stars in the Global NCAP crash tests. We have an exclusive analysis from the crash lab in Germany of how the made-in-India compact sedan has achieved top honours in the latest G-NCAP crash tests. 

The Verna was tested for frontal and side impact and also underwent a pole test, high-speed stability test, and pedestrian safety tests. The 5-star holds for both adult and passenger occupant protection.

The sedan scored 28.18 points out of the total 34 points for adult occupant protection and 42 points out of the total 49 points for child occupant protection. The Verna underwent numerous tests, like a frontal offset crash test at 64 km/h, a side impact protection test at 50 km/h, a pole side impact test at 29 km/h, a pedestrian protection test and a stability test to check the functioning of the Electronic Stability Control (ESC).

The G-NCAP stated that the protection for infants and small children was very good. However, the bodyshell structure has been rated as unstable. 

The Hyundai Verna gets standard safety features like six airbags, ESC, ISOFIX child seat mounts, VSM (Vehicle Stability Management), etc. With these crash test results, the Verna becomes the first car from Hyundai to score a 5-star safety rating from the Global NCAP crash tests.
