Lexus is the luxury car division of Japanese car maker Toyota. The carmaker officially debuted in India in 2017 with three cars, out of which the Lexus ES stands out as one of India's most successful Lexus sedans. The ES sedan demonstrates excellence in performance, design, and hybrid technology. The facelift Lexus ES was launched in 2022.

The Lexus ES interior offers a comfortable, subtle, yet feature-rich interior space. The semi-aniline leather upholstery, adjustable seats with memory functions, seat ventilation, and heaters for all seats add comfort and convenience. The driver's seat features a 14-way adjustment, including cushion length adjustment and slide memory. 

The passenger seat boasts a 12-way adjustment, slide memory, and an easy slide switch for adjustments from the rear. Both front seats are equipped with ventilation for added comfort. Additionally, seat heaters are available for the driver, passenger, and rear seats, and the reclining power rear seats provide up to 8 degrees of recline for further comfort. 

The temperature control system incorporates cutting-edge nanoeX technology, which helps to cleanse the cabin air and efficiently deodorise the seats and upholstery by releasing microscopic, negatively charged "nanoeX" particles. Thanks to the robust and energy-efficient air conditioning system (Lexus Climate Concierge), the driver's seat, front passenger seat, and back seats may all have their temperature independently adjusted in three zones. 

Convenient cupholders are located on the centre armrest of the back seats. An integrated control panel allows users to change the music system, seat recline, and other settings to improve passenger comfort further. The front and rear door trim and the lower instrument panel are softly lit by LED ambient lights. 

Simple touch operation is made possible by the EMV (Electro Multi-Vision), which also has a broad screen with excellent quality that is readable even when the menu and maps are shown at the same time. The multi-information display integrated into the 7-inch colour TFT (Thin Film Transistor) Optitron metre and the large colour head-up display placed in the driver's line of sight coordinates the display of selected information on the EMV. Two USB charging connections are included in the roomy utility box in the console box to make charging and using portable devices while on the go easy. 

A 12.3-inch Electro Multi Vision Touch Display is the key infotainment system compatible with wired Android Auto and wireless Apple CarPlay, dynamic voice recognition, and navigation. The aural experience is supported by the Multimedia Audio System featuring the Lexus Premium Audio with 10 Speakers system for the Exquisite and Mark Levinson with 17 Speakers system for the luxury variants. Through the integration of a lightweight, compact battery, advanced control capabilities, and the exceptional response of the 2.5-litre L4 engine, this vehicle offers a seamless, natural accelerating experience that reacts promptly to accelerator commands.

It gets a 2.5-litre L4 A25B-FXS engine with a displacement of 2487 cc. The petrol engine generates a power of 175.67bhp@5700rpm and a torque of 221Nm@3600-5200rpm. It has a VVT-iE fuel supply system. 

The secondary fuel source is a Nickel-Metal Hydride Battery with a system voltage of 244.8 V. The hybrid system's maximum output is 214.56 bhp (160 kW).

Safety 

The ES's thrilling performance is supported by passive safety features that use advanced technologies to increase comfort. The ES features dual-stage SRS airbags for the front seats, SRS knee airbags for the front seats, SRS side airbags for the front and outboard rear seats, and SRS curtain shield airbags for the front and rear seats. 

By distributing more light in the front direction and to the sides, the LED cornering lighting helps drivers feel more confident when turning left or right at night or in the rain. When driving in fog at night, the multi-weather lights help lessen glare from headlamp light projecting forward while still allowing a good field of vision ahead of the car.

Lexus ES: Old vs Facelift

Exterior 

For the facelift ES, Lexus has revised the iconic spindle front grille with a new mesh pattern while maintaining the ES's unmistakable appearance. The headlamps have a new, compact housing incorporating the brand's BladeScan Adaptive High-Beam System, a triple-beam lamp system. 

The wheels receive a makeover and come in sizes ranging from 17 to 19 inches. The bigger, gloss-black 19-inch wheel is exclusive to the F Sport model. The existing palette is enhanced with two external tones, Sonic Chrome and Sonic Iridium.

The most noticeable modification is found in the centre console, where traditional cupholders have replaced the marque's touchpad for more functional storage. It now has the most recent Lexus logo within the cabin.

The upgrades in the features include wired Android Auto and wireless Apple CarPlay. It now has the Lexus dynamic voice recognition system and a profile feature that lets users customise their media choices. According to Lexus, the hands-free trunk feature has also been improved.
