In India, the Lexus ES 500e will compete with the upcoming Mercedes-Benz EQE sedan and BMW i3.
Lexus has launched the new eighth generation ES in India at a price of ₹ 89.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The new Lexus ES 500e will be the sole sedan offered by Lexus in India and reaches our shores as a fully-imported CBU model. The luxury sedan made its global debut in April last year. Bookings for the same are currently underway and deliveries are expected to commence soon.
The new Lexus ES 500e adopts a sharper, more contemporary design than before that is clearly inspired by the LF-ZC concept. Up front, it features angular LED DRLs, while the projector headlamps are positioned lower on the bumper. The traditional grille is absent, replaced by neatly integrated air intakes within the bumper.

Along the sides, the sedan retains a clean yet well-defined profile, accentuated by a strong beltline. The roofline gently tapers towards the rear, lending it a coupe-like stance. At the back, a slim light bar links the taillights, further enhancing its modern, futuristic appeal. In terms of dimensions, the new eight-gen Lexus ES measures 5,140 mm in length, 1,920 mm in width and 1,560 mm in height, making it 165 mm longer, 55 mm wider, and 115 mm taller than the outgoing model. Its wheelbase measures 2,950mm, which is 80 mm longer than the old ES.
The interiors of the new Lexus ES adopts a minimalist design layout with a dual-tone black and tan theme. Most of the features are integrated into the 14-inch infotainment touchscreen compatible with OTA updates. Further, the centre console sports an array of touch-capacitive buttons. Another highlight are the ‘hidden’ switches beneath the touchscreen, which light up when the car is turned on.

When it comes to features, the new Lexus ES packs a host of gizmos such as an electric sunroof, leather upholstery, a Mark Levinson sound system, and more. On the safety front, expect to see multiple airbags, ABS with EBD, ESC, and the Lexus Safety System+, bringing advanced driver assistance system features such as adaptive cruise control, driver monitor system, blindspot monitor, lane departure warning, and more.

As of now, Lexus has introduced only the fully-electric ES 500e in India. This version of the luxury sedan gets a 75 kWh lithium-ion battery that claims a range of up to 580 km on a single charge. The battery supports up to 150 kW of DC fast charging that can top up 10-80 percent of charge in just 30 minutes. Lexus is offering a 11 kW AC home charger as standard with the car.
The battery sends energy to a dual-motor setup powering all four wheels. The combined power output stands at 338 bhp. As for performance, the Lexus ES 500e can sprint 0-100 kmph in 5.7 seconds.
