The Tata Nexon EV is an electric compact SUV designed and developed by the homegrown automaker. Tata Motors launched the facelifted avatar of this EV on September 14, 2023. The new electric SUV gets a new look on the outside and inside and has many new features, making it even better.

The Tata Nexon EV facelift has a 46.08 kWh battery pack, translating to a driving range of 498 km on a single charge. The electric SUV also supports fast charging; a 60kW DC fast charger can juice the battery from 10% to 100% in just 40 minutes. You can also charge the EV using the standard home electrical socket. 

Overall, the Tata Nexon EV is available in three types: the 45, Medium Range, and Long Range. The Tata Nexon facelift features a similar exterior design as the ICE Nexon facelift, although with subtle differences. Unlike the exterior design, the Nexon EV facelift's interior has been completely overhauled. The interior features a premium design that excels in practicality. The horizontal lines on the dashboard and the new two-spoke steering backlit steering wheel give the cabin an upmarket look.

It also gets a larger floating touchscreen infotainment system and a fully digital display for the instrument cluster with EV-specific graphics. The overall fit and finish and the quality of materials used inside the cabin have improved by miles, and it's a commendable job by Tata Motors.

The facelifted Nexon EV has many features, like an electric sunroof, ventilated front seats, cruise control, automatic climate control, rear AC vents, wireless charging, and a 360-degree camera. Note that some of these features may be limited to top-spec variants.

Tata Nexon EV Battery and Transmission

Battery Capacity

The Tata Nexon EV draws power from a permanent magnet synchronous AC motor. This impressive electric motor uses a 46.08 kWh battery (45), a 40.5 kWh battery (long range), and a 30 kWh battery (medium range) with a liquid-cooled thermal management system. Its motor output is 147.51 bhp and 215 Nm of torque. 

Transmission

The Tata Nexon EV has a front-wheel (FWD) drivetrain with an automatic transmission. Specifically, it comes with an automatic gearbox without having a separate manual mode. This electric SUV does not have a traditional manual or automated manual transmission like other vehicles. By having an FWD electric motor power the front wheels through its automatic system, the electric SUV provides smooth, uninterrupted power delivery without manually shifting gears.

Performance

The electric motor offers brisk acceleration with instant torque. This allows this electric SUV to reach a speed of 100km/h from a standstill in just 8.9 seconds. What’s truly impressive is that this powerful powertrain offers a power of 110 kW and a torque of 215 Nm. 

The Tata Nexon EV offers versatile charging options. A 7.2kW AC home wall box charger powers up from 10% to 100% in 6 hours 36 minutes, while a 15A portable charger takes 17 hours 36 minutes. For rapid on-road charging, a 60kW DC fast charger boosts SOC from 10% to 80% in just 40 minutes.

The Tata Nexon EV's City driving mode does an excellent job of delivering a comfortable driving experience in traffic. This EV will not disappoint you on highways either since you can make the most of the Eco mode and use regenerative braking for better range. The car drives well even with just 20% of throttle on straight highways.      

Top Speed

By now, it should have been clear that the Tata Nexon EV has a performant electric powertrain. Exterior Updates

While retaining the overall silhouette, Tata Motors has significantly refreshed the styling of the new Nexon EV facelift. The front end features a new split LED headlamp design and revised bumpers. At the rear, stylish new connecting LED tail lamps modernise the look. New 16-inch alloy wheel designs and the absence of the signature EV blue accents further differentiate the facelift.

Interior Updates

The cabin is now anchored by a large 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, replacing the older 7-inch unit.
