Kia India has thrown down the gauntlet in the country's electric vehicle space with the launch of the Syros EV, its second mass-market electric offering after the Carens Clavis EV. Priced from ₹13.49 lakh (ex-showroom) for the 42 kWh battery variant and going up to ₹19.99 lakh for the fully loaded 51.4 kWh Extended Range trim, the Syros EV enters a segment already crowded with credible rivals: the Tata Punch EV, Tata Nexon EV, Citroën eC3X, MG Windsor EV and Mahindra XUV 3XO EV. The Syros EV is offered across seven variants and two battery packs. The base 42 kWh pack starts at ₹13.49 lakh and tops out at ₹15.99 lakh for the HTX trim, while the larger 51.4 kWh Extended Range pack begins at ₹16.99 lakh and climbs to ₹19.99 lakh for the range-topping X-Line ER. Kia claims an ARAI-certified range of up to 526 km with the bigger battery, along with 171 PS of power, positioning the Syros EV as one of the more powerful and long-legged options in this bracket.

The Tata Punch EV remains the most affordable of the lot, starting at just ₹9.69 lakh for its 30 kWh pack and rising to ₹12.79 lakh with the 40 kWh long-range option. The Citroën eC3X, similarly positioned as a value-focused hatchback-SUV crossover, is priced between ₹11.99 lakh and roughly ₹13.20 lakh with its single 29.2 kWh battery.

Stepping up in size, the Mahindra XUV 3XO EV sits between ₹13.89 lakh and ₹14.96 lakh with its sole 39.4 kWh battery option, making it a close price neighbour to the Syros EV's entry variants. The Tata Nexon EV, one of India's best-selling electric SUVs, spans a wider band, from ₹12.49 lakh with its 30 kWh Medium Range pack to around ₹17.49 lakh for the 45 kWh Long Range Empowered+ trim.

At the upper end sits the MG Windsor EV, which starts at roughly ₹14.70 lakh with its 38 kWh battery and stretches to about ₹19 lakh for the 52.9 kWh Pro variants, making it the priciest rival in this comparison alongside the Syros EV's top-spec version.

The Kia Syros EV's 42 kWh variant is competitively priced against the Nexon EV and XUV 3XO EV, undercutting the Nexon's long-range trims while offering a segment-best claimed range. However, once buyers step up to the Syros EV's Extended Range pack, it becomes one of the pricier options on this list, trading blows with the top-end MG Windsor EV rather than the more budget-friendly hatchback-based rivals.

Kia has tried to offset this with its Battery-as-a-Service scheme, Assured Buyback programme, and a 15-year unlimited-kilometre battery warranty — benefits that could sway buyers weighing long-term value over the upfront price tag. The Syros EV goes on sale nationwide from 30 July 2026.
