Aside from a hike in price, both the new Chetak Premium variants will also debut several new features.
It was just yesterday when Bajaj confirmed that it will update its sole electric scooter offering the Chetak. The same will launch on January 5, and we will also get to experience the updated scooter in real-world conditions on January 9. But ahead of these official dates, details about the upcoming 2024 Chetak Premium have already been leaked online.
Here are some of the key details that have stood out for us, and the primary differences between the two.
Up until now, the Bajaj Chetak was available in three variants - Chetak Urbane, Chetak Urbane TECPAC, and the top-spec Chetak Premium. In 2024, Bajaj further separated the Premium variant into two variants - the Bajaj Chetak Premium and Bajaj Chetak Premium TECPAC. Moreover, the battery size has also increased and it is now 3.2 kWh unit, unlike the 2.78 kWh unit that was available before. In addition to that, the e-motor is also now slightly more powerful with a peak power rating of 4.4 kW.
For starters, the 2024 Bajaj Chetak Premium gains a new non-color single-screen instrument cluster. The app connectivity functions are limited with this cluster. You can only accept/reject calls from the cluster. There’s also just one ride mode, i.e. Eco, available with the non-TECPAC Chetak Premium variant, unlike the previous iteration. In addition to that, there’s also a reverse mode available as part of the standard package, and instead of TPMS (Tyre Pressure Monitoring System), you’ll get a generic alarm in case of pressure in any of the tyres is low.
With the TECPAC option, Bajaj Chetak Premium gets all the bells and whistles. Starting with the two ride modes- Eco and Sport, available as standard, it will also get you hill-hold assist, in addition to reverse mode as standard. The new instrument cluster is also colour TFT unit here with full app connectivity functions, which include - accept/reject calls, play/pause music, turn-by-turn navigation, notification alerts, vacation mode, and remote immobilisation. You can also change the display theme on this new cluster and check the tyre pressure via TPMS onboard, both of which are unavailable with the standard Chetak Premium now.
Since there are no mechanical changes at all, performance has remained alike. Both the Bajaj Chetak Premium and Chetak Premium TECPAC variants can do a top speed of 73 kmph. The bigger battery has increased its range to 126 km (IDC range), which is 18 km more than before.
The 2024 Bajaj Chetak Premium model is priced at ₹ 1.35 lakh, and with the TECPAC package, the same will set you back by ₹ 1.44 lakh (all ex-showroom).
