Aprilia will seek to expand its 457 cc engine platform soon
Aprilia will make its presence felt at the 2024 EICMA motorcycle show by showcasing several exciting new models. Building on the success of the recently launched RS 457, the Italian motorcycle manufacturer is expanding its 457 cc parallel-twin platform. Plus, there are also the big Noale offerings to look forward to. Here's what to expect from the Italian marque:
Set to debut at the Piaggio stall in Milan; the Tuono 457 will directly rival the KTM 390 Duke. At the same time, it's expected to share the same 46.9 bhp/43.5 Nm 457 cc, parallel-twin engine and chassis as the RS 457. However, given that it will be a naked streetfighter, Aprilia will likely tweak the steering geometry and ergonomics to make it more street-friendly. The omission of the fairing is also expected to help its case with a lighter kerb weight. And like a typical Aprilia product, the upcoming Tuono 457 will maintain high-quality standards and should be a joy to ride around a track. As for its price, we're expecting that the Tuono 457 will be a comparatively affordable alternative to the RS 457, but by how much that remains to be seen.
Recent sightings of the Tuareg 457 at a rally have solidified our speculation about the possibility of an adventure motorcycle on the 457 cc platform. We expect that Aprilia might first showcase its concept version, with an official launch in 2026. Like the RS 457, the Aprilia Tuareg 457 will also be manufactured at the Baramati facility. Therefore, if it launches in India, it will be quite a compelling alternative to other mid-displacement adventure motorcycles like the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 and also the upcoming KTM 390 Adventure range.
Beyond these, Aprilia might also reveal the new Tuono V4, which the brand has been testing for quite some time. This new bike is set to gain a set of small tweaks, including a new half fairing which should make it more aerodynamically efficient. We think Aprilia might also bring this litre-class naked streetfighter to India sometime in the second half of 2025 as a CBU.
So, stay tuned to this space. We will be in Milan and get you all the latest news and images of the bike mentioned above.
