The Maruti Suzuki was one of the most fun to drive cars this time around BIC.
2024 saw the Maruti Suzuki Swift undergo a nice transition that kept the hatchback humble and exciting enough at a time when SUVs are reigning prime. It didn't disturb the basic ethos that we have loved so much over time, especially inside the cabin, which feels predictable and slightly more premium.
The new three-cylinder engine has made the Swift more frugal than before, making it ideal for a family buying its first car. These qualities combined made us declare the Maruti Suzuki Swift the TOTM subcompact car of the year.
As was put by our editor-in-chief, Siddharth Vinayak Patankar, “Is it a better Swift than the last one? The answer is a definite yes. Is it a good family car? Is it a good hatch to buy in the market given all the options? The answer, again, is yes.”
