The latest iteration of the adventure tourer also debuts with a new touchscreen console , and KTM’s AMT gearbox.
After months of testing and several spy shots, KTM has finally taken the wraps off its flagship adventure motorcycle for 2025, the 1390 Super Adventure S Evo. The latest version of the adventure tourer marks a significant leap in motorcycle technology with the introduction of several new features, including an automated manual transmission, a touchscreen instrument console, and a bunch of enhanced radar-assisted riding aids. But let's start from the basics.
The Powertrain
The most significant update comes in the form of an increased engine displacement, now at 1,350 cc (up from 1,300 cc), which delivers 170.63 bhp at 9,500 rpm and 145 Nm at 8,000 rpm. Also debuting with the powertrain this year is KTM’s latest camshift technology, which automatically adjusts valve timing and lift based on riding conditions. At higher revs, the inlet cams shift sideways for maximum performance, while at lower speeds, they adjust for optimal urban rideability. As for its transmission, scroll below.
Automated Manual Transmission
In a first for KTM, the 1390 Super Adventure S Evo features an Automated Manual Transmission (AMT). This system offers riders the flexibility to choose between traditional manual shifting through a foot lever or handlebar paddles, and a fully automatic "twist-and-go" mode, maintaining the motorcycle's racing heritage while also making it convenient and relatable for traditional riders.
Enhanced Chassis and Ergonomics
The 2025 model introduces significant improvements to its chassis and ergonomics. While the frame is the same as the previous generation bike, however, it has been redesigned and optimised to make it stiffer than before. Rider comfort has been prioritised too with repositioned footpegs, now sitting 8 mm lower and 10 mm wider, creating a more accommodating knee angle. The bodywork has also been completely updated. And redesigned windshields with new storage compartments, all contribute to make the bike more practical than before.
Advanced Suspension Technology
The KTM 1390 Super Adventure S Evo gets the latest generation WP semi-active technology (SAT) suspension system. This new setup features advanced PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) sensors and an innovative through-rod fork construction that combines elements from both Open and Closed Cartridge suspension designs. The result is more precise damping behaviour at higher frequencies, delivering improved performance across varying road conditions.
Additionally, KTM will provide a Suspension Pro Package, which further offers suspension modes—Pro, Anti-Dive, Auto, and Off-road—damping modes, in addition to the existing Street, Sport, Comfort, and Rain modes from the previous generation bike.
Advanced Electronics
At the heart of the motorcycle's electronic interface is the latest 8-inch V80 TFT dashboard with touchscreen capability. This premium display features inductive technology that allows for easy operation even with thick winter gloves. The screen is equipped with innovative anti-reflex, anti-fingerprint, and anti-glare coating for optimal visibility in all conditions.
Advanced Rider Assistance Systems
And lastly, the new KTM 1390 Super Adventure S Evo features Bosch's latest 5th-generation radar sensor gets you an enhanced Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) which now includes Stop & Go functionality – automatically managing complete stops and starts in traffic. The system is complemented by Brake Assistance, Collision Warning, and Distance Warning features. The radar system also boasts improved truck detection capabilities and higher maximum speed thresholds. Riders can choose between Dynamic, Street, and Group Ride functionality, allowing for customised control in various riding scenarios.
Availability
Deliveries for the new KTM 1390 Super Adventure S Evo will commence from early 2025 onwards. However, the initial lot will be delivered in American and European markets. Will ity launch in India? Sadly, the chances of that will be slim since KTM never got its range of premium bikes to India, ever.
