With a bigger engine comes more power, along with that a few subtle design changes as well for the new year.

Italian-Chinese brand Moto Morini has revealed the successor to its adventure-focused X-Cape 650 with the new X-Cape 700. As you can decipher from the name, the new bike now features increased engine displacement, which is coupled with several design updates while meeting the stricter Euro 5+ emission norms.

To comply with tougher emission regulations, Moto Morini has followed the industry trend of increasing engine capacity, boosting the motor from 649 cc to 693 cc by extending the stroke length from 60 mm to 64 mm. The updated engine also benefits from lighter pistons and a new exhaust system. These modifications have significantly enhanced performance, with power output rising to 69 bhp – a 10 bhp increase over the previous model. Torque has also improved substantially, jumping from 54 Nm to 68 Nm, but the 6-speed gearbox has remained the same.

Moto Morini has also introduced a new colour option with the X-Cape 700.

The X-Cape 700 maintains the steel trellis frame with bolt-on subframe and aluminium swingarm from its predecessor. It rides on a 19/17-inch wheel combination, with customers able to choose between alloy or wire-spoke wheels. The suspension system consists of 50 mm Marzocchi fully-adjustable upside-down forks at the front and a Kayaba monoshock at the rear with preload and rebound adjustment. Braking is handled by twin discs at the front and a single disc at the rear, complemented by switchable dual-channel ABS.

The Moto Morini X-Cape 700's design changes are subtle but noticeable. It features an updated front fairing, windscreen, seat, and new livery options. Despite these updates, the dry weight remains unchanged at 213 kg. The seat height is now 10 mm higher than its predecessor. A new Ebony Black colour scheme has been added to the existing three colour options.

In the Indian market, Moto Morini has struggled to achieve strong sales figures for the X-Cape 650 and other models despite previously reducing prices to stimulate demand. Challenges with brand recognition and after-sales service have resulted in slow progress for the brand in India. It remains to be seen whether Moto Morini brings the renewed model to India or not.
