The image surfaced online reveals the new front profile of the compact sedan, showcasing major styling revisions to the Honda City facelift.

The updated Honda City facelift has been spotted completely undisguised ahead of its launch on May 22, 2026. The image surfaced online reveals the new front profile of the compact sedan, showcasing major styling revisions to the model. Incidentally, the current Honda City can be seen in the distance in the same image, detailing the changes to the design over the outgoing version.

This is the second major facelift for the current-generation Honda City, which has been around since 2020. The upcoming version gets a wider and bolder-looking grille finished in gloss black, which extends outwards. The bumper has been redesigned with a large air intake in the centre, and new vertically stacked fog lamps at either end. The headlamps look sleeker and merge seamlessly into the grille. Another notable change is the Honda logo now resting on the bonnet instead of the grille itself.

The leaked image further reveals new alloy wheels, while expect comprehensive changes to the rear profile and the cabin as well. Honda is expected to introduce more features on the new City, and one of them could be the 360-degree camera with the front camera visibly integrated into the bumper. This could also make way for a new touchscreen infotainment system, a digital instrument console, and more. The City already comes with ADAS, which could also see improvements with the latest iteration.

Mechanically, the Honda City facelift is likely to arrive with subtle improvements while retaining most of the mechanical bits. This includes the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated i-VTEC petrol engine tuned for 119 bhp at 6,000 rpm and 145 Nm of peak torque at 4,300 rpm. Transmission choices will include a 6-speed manual and a CVT automatic. The hybrid version will continue with the 1.5-litre Atkinson cycle engine with two electric motors, which produces 126 bhp. It’s unclear if Honda will introduce the City Hybrid facelift alongside the petrol version later this month, or roll out the same at a later date.

The Honda City remains one of the more formidable options in the segment, albeit it’s having a hard time catching up to the more feature-laden alternatives available. Interestingly, the competition is also readying upgrades to their respective offerings in the compact sedan segment. The Hyundai Verna facelift was launched a few weeks prior, while the Skoda Slavia and Volkswagen Virtus facelift are slated to arrive later in the year.
