Land Rover has announced a comprehensive update for the Discovery Sport SUV for the 2026 model year, reaffirming its commitment to one of its longest-running nameplates. Despite being more than a decade old, the Discovery Sport remains an important volume player in Land Rover’s global portfolio. While there’s no official word yet, the updated Discovery Sport is expected to arrive in India, likely by early 2026.
The 2026 iteration introduces a more assertive exterior, upgraded interior tech, and two new special edition trims—Landmark and Metropolitan. The base trim, now called Dynamic S, becomes the new entry point into the Discovery Sport lineup. It features a blacked-out aesthetic with gloss black elements on the grille, bumpers, and trim pieces. New alloy wheel designs also refresh the visual appeal of the SUV.
Inside, the most significant update is the adoption of the 11.4-inch curved infotainment screen running the latest Pivi Pro system—borrowed from more premium Range Rover models. This brings wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard. Additional upgrades include a fully digital instrument cluster, gearshift paddles, and refined material choices.
Positioned above the Dynamic S is the Landmark Edition, introduced to celebrate the Discovery nameplate’s 35-year legacy. This trim integrates nostalgic cues such as the mountain range logo from the original 1989 Discovery, seen on both the aluminium treadplates and as a puddle light projection. It also brings functional enhancements, including a 3D surround-view camera system, a panoramic sunroof, roof rails, and Land Rover’s signature ‘Click & Go’ tablet holders.
Topping the lineup is the new Metropolitan Edition, which leans heavily into luxury. It features 20-inch diamond-turned alloy wheels, silver-finished detailing on the grille and skid plates, and a host of premium cabin features. These include 14-way adjustable heated and cooled Windsor leather seats, a 650W 14-speaker Meridian surround sound system, air-purification, and a digital rear-view mirror aimed at improving rear visibility even with a packed cabin.
Under the hood, the Discovery Sport retains its existing powertrain lineup. All models feature four-wheel drive and some form of hybrid assistance. Buyers can choose between two versions of the 2.0-litre Ingenium diesel engine—producing either 161 bhp or 201 bhp—with a 48V mild-hybrid system that enhances stop-start performance. The plug-in hybrid (PHEV) option remains a compelling choice, combining a petrol engine with an electric motor and 15 kWh battery, delivering 265 bhp and up to 58 km of electric-only range.
Prices for the updated Discovery Sport now start at £45,440, representing a £900 increase. The Landmark Edition is priced at £49,100, while the fully-loaded Metropolitan Edition begins at £55,885, available exclusively with the more powerful diesel or PHEV powertrains.
