Riders will get to choose from four formats as the brand celebrates its 125th anniversary.

 

Royal Enfield has announced the 22nd edition of its flagship motorcycling expedition, the Himalayan Odyssey 2026, as part of its 125th anniversary celebrations. The company said this year’s edition will be its largest and most inclusive yet, introducing four distinct routes for riders. Registrations are now open on the brand’s official website.

 

Held annually, the Himalayan Odyssey is widely regarded as one of thousands of Royal Enfield owners could realise the most challenging and sought-after motorcycling journeys in India. Since its inception in 1997, the expedition has drawn riders from across the world, offering a high-altitude ride across the Himalayan region, including Ladakh. In fact, the Himalayan Odyssey has ensured that  their dream of riding to the mighty mountains around Leh and Ladakh.

For the first time, Royal Enfield has expanded the Odyssey into four formats, aimed at accommodating riders with varying levels of experience and expectations:

  • Himalayan Odyssey Original (June 25 – July 10, 2026):
    The traditional 16-day expedition begins and ends in Chandigarh, covering Himachal Pradesh, Zanskar, and Ladakh. It is a fully supported group ride and remains the most comprehensive version of the journey.
  • Himalayan Odyssey Explore (June 26 – July 5, 2026):
    Designed for experienced riders, this format offers limited support and requires participants to carry their own gear while navigating more demanding terrain.
  • Kargil Circuit (June 29 – July 5, 2026):
    Starting from Leh, this route focuses on the historical and cultural aspects of the region, offering a slower-paced experience.
  • Nubra Circuit (June 29 – July 5, 2026):
    Also beginning in Leh, this route takes riders through the Nubra Valley, combining scenic landscapes with cultural exploration.

The Himalayan Odyssey typically spans over 2,200 kilometres, crossing some of the world’s highest motorable passes, including Khardung La and Umling La. The ride is known for its physically demanding conditions, unpredictable weather, and remote terrain. Royal Enfield will continue to integrate sustainability into the 2026 edition through its #LeaveEveryPlaceBetter initiative. The programme focuses on reducing environmental impact and supporting local communities along the route. Previous editions have included measures such as installing water purification systems along key routes to reduce reliance on single-use plastic bottles.

Interested participants can register through the official Royal Enfield website. The company has not disclosed the total number of slots available but noted that demand for the expedition remains high each year. With the introduction of multiple routes and formats, the 2026 edition is expected to attract a wider range of riders while retaining the expedition’s core identity as a test of endurance and exploration in the Himalayas.
