Upon launch, most likely in the first half of 2026, the Tata Punch facelift will continue to rival Hyundai Exter and Citroen C3.
Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles (TMPV) is working on multiple models with 30 new launches by FY2030 which includes 23 model updates and seven brand new nameplates. One of the model refreshes is the facelifted Tata Punch. Launched in 2021, the micro SUV is long due for a mid-cycle update.
Test mules of the Tata Punch facelift have been spotted on numerous occasions for more than a year. It was initially believed to hit the roads sometime this year but with just over a month left and three big launches from Tata (Sierra, Harrier petrol, Safari petrol) already in the pipelines, the launch of the Punch facelift in the next couple of months looks highly unlikely.
Meanwhile, the homegrown automaker continues testing the updated Punch. Another prototype of the Tata Punch facelift has been caught testing on camera, reportedly on the streets of Pune. The latest spy shots show a completely camouflaged test mule of the Tata Punch facelift that hardly reveal any significant visual detail about the crossover.
Despite the heavy camouflage on top, it is evident that the upcoming Punch facelift will draw its design inspirations from its battery-powered sibling. For reference, Tata Motors launched Punch.ev in early 2024, becoming an instant hit as an entry-level electric car. Recently, the company achieved the 6 lakh sales milestone for the Punch ever since it was launched in October 2021.

At the front, the facelifted Tata Punch will embrace Tata Motors’ latest digital design language, first seen on Punch.ev. Unlike a conventional grille, the facelifted Punch will get a sleek opening at the front nose flanked by new projector LED headlights. Sleek. The other significant detail is the connected LED DRL strip positioned just below the bonnet, which is also expected to double as sequential turn indicators.
The micro SUV continues with its characteristic split headlamp arrangement but upgrades to vertically stacked LED headlights and LED fog lamps equipped with a cornering function. While the overall silhouette remains familiar, the updated Punch gains new 16-inch alloy wheels. At the rear, the design stays largely unchanged, with only minor revisions to the internal elements of the LED taillamps.

Previous spy shots gave us a sneak peek into the cabin of the Punch facelift. The dashboard design is in line with the latest crop of cars by Tata Motors including the recently launched Altroz facelift. This includes a larger 10.25-inch freestanding touchscreen infotainment system taking centre stage. This infotainment for Harman is very advanced and packs wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay along with iRA connected car suite and multiple voice commands.
It will also get Tata’s new flat-bottom steering wheel with an illuminated logo at the centre and toggle buttons at the sides for various controls. Below the dashboard, the Punch facelift will also get a new climate control panel along with an array of charging options like 45W Type-C, USB and a 12V socket.
Mechanically, the 2026 Tata Punch facelift is expected to remain unchanged. It will likely continue with the same 1.2-litre, three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine that delivers 86 bhp and 113 Nm of peak torque. The i-CNG bi-fuel variant is also set to carry over, producing 73.4 bhp and 103 Nm. Transmission choices for the petrol version will include a 5-speed manual and an AMT.
