The next-gen Hyundai Elantra goes official with sharp styling and a new hybrid powertrain.
Hyundai has officially taken the wraps off its next-gen 2027 Elantra at the 2026 Busan Mobility Show in South Korea (where it is sold under the Avante moniker).
The front profile of the 2027 Elantra draws heavily from the brand's new, sleek Ioniq V design language, featuring thin, elegant LED daytime running lights paired with a sporty, sharp lower bumper. Along the sides, the vehicle transitions to smoother surfacing with aggressively flared front and rear wheel arches, moving away from the controversial triangular creases of the previous model.
The rear architecture updates the existing design with a more squared-off look, incorporating vertical LED light bars on the outer edges and two detached horizontal LED light strips running across the boot lid.
Inside the cabin, the Elantra undergoes a substantial digital transformation, adopting layout elements and user-experience configurations from the premium Grandeur sedan. Hyundai has decoupled the traditional side-by-side display setup, replacing it with a prominent 17-inch central infotainment touchscreen running an Android Automotive-based operating system. This is supported by an updated 'Gleo AI' digital voice assistant for a highly connected, software-defined vehicle experience.

A smaller, simplified 9.9-inch digital driver instrument cluster sits on its own dedicated island positioned closer to the base of the front windshield. The passenger side receives an Art Deco-inspired dashboard pattern, while the redesigned steering wheel gains integrated physical buttons and a Morse code 'H' logo. Crucially, the carmaker has retained a dedicated physical row of analog buttons beneath the main display to ensure quick, distraction-free control over primary media and climate functions.
Under the bonnet, the 2027 Elantra receives a major upgrade via an all-new, two-motor hybrid powertrain setup that generates 153 bhp. Furthermore, the hybrid system integrates Version 3.0 of Hyundai's Smart Regenerative Braking and Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) bidirectional charging technology, allowing owners to draw electricity from the main high-voltage traction battery pack to power external household appliances or electronic gear.
The chances of Elantra’s return to India are quite slim since the entire executive sedan segment has vanished in the country. Still, this 2027 model ensures that Hyundai isn’t yet giving up on sedans globally.
