Tata Motors sold around 11,500 units of the Punch per month on average.
Tata Motors has achieved yet another milestone with the Punch. The Indian manufacturer has rolled out the 300,000th unit of the micro SUV from its plant in Ranjangaon near Pune, Maharashtra. This feat was achieved in 26 months since the Punch was launched in India, meaning that Tata Motors sold around 11,500 units a month on average.
The Indian manufacturer rolled out the 100,000th unit of the Punch just 10 months after its launch, becoming the first SUV in India to achieve the fastest 100,000th sales milestone. In May 2023, Tata Motors rolled out the 200,000th unit of the Punch, just 19 months after it was launched and nine months post the previous milestone. However, this recent achievement came the quickest, just eight months since it achieved the 200,000th unit milestone.
Competition has become stiff for Tata Motors since the launch of the Hyundai Exter in July last year. The Exter itself is having a successful run in the Indian market by contributing a 20 per cent market share in the CNG sector. However, Tata Motors has kept the Punch fresh by launching special editions and variants as well as constantly updating the micro SUV. It now gets a factory-fitted CNG kit as well as a single-pane sunroof and wireless charger.
The Punch is available with an 86 bhp, 115 Nm, 1.2-litre petrol engine mated to either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT and the CNG version only comes with the manual gearbox. The Punch comes in five trims – Pure, Adventure, Accomplished and Creative. In terms of features, the Punch packs a 7-inch touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, auto-folding ORVMs, automatic climate control, cooled glovebox, automatic headlamps and more. The Punch is priced between ₹6 lakh-10.10 lakh (ex-showroom, India).
