The models affected range from the brand’s popular scooters to its premium ADV.
On quite a surprising note, Suzuki India has issued a massive recall for almost 4 lakh scooters and motorcycles in India. The recalled models include the Burgman 125, Access 125, Avenis 125, and the recently launched V-Strom 800 DE. The affected customers will be duly notified by Suzuki via mail, post which they will be required to bring their two-wheeler to their nearest service centre. Since it’s a voluntary recall the repair will be free of cost. The recall is a positive step by the Japanese brand, but the fact that so many units of its two-wheelers were affected might have an impact on its sales because the reliability of the brand’s products comes under suspicion.
The scooters are being recalled over a faulty high-tension cord which is connected to the ignition coil. All three models that have been recalled were manufactured between April 30 and December 3, 2022. In this period, 2,63,788 units of Access 125, 52,578 units of the Avenis 125, and 72,025 units of the Burgman 125 were built.

The V-Strom 800 DE is being recalled over a faulty rear tyre. The Japanese manufacturer has cited that some portion of the tyre tread may separate, which in turn may lead to cracks and thereby affect the riding dynamics of the bike and at the same time make it prone to accident.
The V-Strom 800 DE that have been recalled were manufactured between May 5 2023 to April 23 2024, and only 67 units were built during this period. As for the scooters,
The sheer number of the models affected is quite glaring. The Suzuki V-Strom 800 DE is brought to India via the CKD route with all the parts imported from Japan, and the final product is assembled here. Whereas, the scooters are all built here and exported to countries like Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, etc. So, Suzuki might issue a recall of its scooters in these markets as well.
