The company has raised its 2025 target from 3,50,000 to 4,00,000 units shipped.
Xiaomi announced today that it has manufactured its 5,00,000th car, less than two years after launching its first model, the SU7 sedan. The news comes just days after the company posted its third quarter financial results, confirming that its Smart EV division posted a profit for the first time. Revenue from EVs is up 197.9 percent year-over-year for the quarter ending in September, which Xiaomi attributes to its ability to deliver more vehicles as well as a rise in average selling prices with the availability of the SU7 Ultra and the launch of the YU7 series.
The company’s previous target of 3,50,000 units shipped in 2025 will be crossed within a week, and it has therefore raised its expectations to 4,00,000 units for the whole calendar year. Xiaomi has sold 108,796 cars in the third quarter alone, which is a 173.4 percent increase over the 39,790 units it shipped in the same quarter last year.
Gross profit margin for EVs is also up, as the company says its manufacturing cost per unit has reduced, and key components are also less expensive. However, President Lu Weibing expects this to reverse next year due to reduced government incentives on EV purchases as well as potential new competition.
Along with the announcement that it has now produced 5,00,000 cars in total, Xiaomi’s Chinese-language Weibo social media page also promoted a celebratory giveaway of 15,000 1:43 scale die-cast models and 45,000 1:64 scale models. Fans can claim them via an online quiz, visiting the company at the 2025 Guangzhou Auto Show which begins tomorrow, or at a participating Xiaomi retail store.
Suppliers and partners who commented on the post to congratulate Xiaomi include Brembo, Michelin, Bosch China, Hesai Technology, Nexteer Automotive Systems, Valeo, Bridgestone China, and BorgWarner.
The YU7 Series took the top spot in SUV sales in Mainland China in October, according to the company’s own quarterly financial report. Xiaomi has previously stated its ambition to become one of the world’s top five carmakers, though it has not yet begun selling cars outside its home country. Production expansion, including a third phase of its Beijing plant, will allow for a planned European market entry in 2027.
The company will announce a more advanced driver assist feature called HAD (Hyper Autonomous Driving) Enhanced Edition at the Guangzhou Auto Show.
