The impressive CNG two-wheeler has stuck true to Bajaj’s claims of halving running costs when compared to petrol motorcycles
Bajaj Auto aims to make the Freedom 125 CNG bike available in 77 towns by the day India got its freedom, i.e. this August 15 which happens to be the 77th Independence Day. Pan-India bookings for the motorcycle have already commenced with deliveries to begin shortly.
The aim with the Freedom 125 was simple: half the running cost of an alternative petrol motorcycle. In that sense, Bajaj claimed the Freedom 125 received an ARAI fuel-efficiency number of 102 km/kg. While in our test cycle with a 100 kg rider on board, it was better. Head here to read our first experience with the Freedom 125 CNG.
Bajaj offers the Freedom 125 in three variants, with prices starting at ₹95,000 and going up to ₹1.10 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Powering the Bajaj Freedom 125 is a 124.58cc, air-cooled engine that delivers a maximum power output of 9.5 bhp and 9.7 Nm. It comes equipped with a 2-litre petrol tank for emergencies and a 2 kg CNG tank strategically placed at the centre of the trellis frame for optimal weight distribution and safety.
Bajaj Freedom 125 CNG features an on-the-fly CNG switching mechanism for seamless transitions between fuels without stopping. The underpinnings of the motorcycles are fairly simple with telescopic suspension and monoshock. It gets 17-inch alloy wheel options with tubeless tyres.
