BMW F 450 GS-Based Roadster Teased Ahead Of Global Debut on October 1

BMW Motorrad introduced the F 450 GS in India earlier this year, and the adventure tourer is all set to get a new sibling soon. The German motorcycle maker has teased its next offering, a roadster, which will make its global debut on October 1, 2026, and is likely to be based on the same platform as the F 450 GS. We did tell you about a new BMW 450 roadster being tested earlier in the year, and the latest offering is expected to lose the body work in favour of outright performance. 

Likely to be badged as the BMW F 450 R, the upcoming motorcycle will be the second entry-level offering from BMW Motorrad after the F 450 GS. Much like the now-discontinued BMW G 310 R and G 310 GS, expect the F 450 R and F 450 GS to be close siblings sharing most components. This means, you can expect the same trellis frame, albeit with a few changes to make it more performance-friendly. The fairing will make way for a naked design language, while power will come from the same 420 cc twin-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. 

On the F 450 GS, the motor makes 47 bhp and 43 Nm of peak torque, paired with a 6-speed gearbox, while the Easy Ride Clutch (ERC) is available on the top GS Trophy trim. Expect the upcoming F 450 R to do identical numbers but should be lighter than the ADV. The latter tips the scales at 178 kg (kerb), so expect a healthy power-to-weight ratio on the streetfighter. 

Other components are likely to be carried over including the 43 mm USD front forks, a monoshock at the rear, along with the top-tier braking system. BMW is also likely to offer the full adjustable setup, much like it does on the F 450 GS. The TFT screen should also be retained with the multiple ride modes and electronic aids. 

The upcoming BMW F 450 R will enter a competitive space taking on the KTM 390 Duke R (₹3.45 lakh), Aprilia Tuono 457 (₹3.99 lakh), and more. Expect prices to be lower than the F 450 GS, which starts from ₹4.95 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom.
