2024 Acko Drive Awards: Hyundai Verna Wins The Car Of The Year

The current-gen Hyundai Verna ushered in a whole new design language which is unconventional and yet impressive. Coupled with its several variants on offer that is further spruced up by the plethora of features, Hyundai Verna leaves no stone unturned to impress us.

Ditching the diesel powertrain completely, the Hyundai Verna is available with two petrol engine options. There’s the 115 bhp/ 144 Nm, 1.5-litre naturally aspirated option, and a new 160 bhp/253 Nm turbocharged petrol engine option. Both are available with a 6-speed manual gearbox, but the N.A. engine gets a CVT gearbox option, while the turbocharged gets a 7-speed DCT gearbox instead.

Hyundai has also pushed the envelop this time with the new Verna in terms of safety. It gets 6-airbags, ISOFIX child seat anchorages, and ABS with EBD as standard. In addition to that, higher variants are also available with electronic stability control, all-wheel disc brakes, tyre pressure monitoring system, and Level-2 ADAS functionalities as well like forward collision warning, blind-spot alert, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, and adaptive cruise control. 

Competing against some heavy weights that included SUVs and sedans, the Hyundai Verna really stood its ground. Which thus helped its case to win the much coveted 2024 Acko Drive Awards' Car Of The Year.
