Following Maruti Suzuki's announcement of price reductions reaching 24 per cent across its model range, SUV manufacturer Mahindra & Mahindra has implemented revised ex-showroom pricing for its internal combustion engine (ICE) lineup while introducing supplementary customer benefits totaling ₹1.29 lakh. India's automotive sector has seen a rise in competitive pricing as auto manufacturers respond to the GST Council's recent decision to lower tax on vehicles.
When combined with price adjustments resulting from reduced GST rates, the customer incentives bring savings of ₹2.56 lakh on Bolero Neo, according to official M&M communication.
The automotive giant's Bolero Neo variant offers the highest total customer advantage at ₹2.56 lakh, incorporating a ₹1.27 lakh ex-showroom price decrease alongside ₹1.29 lakh in supplementary benefits. The compact SUV XUV3XO delivers comparable value with aggregate savings reaching ₹2.46 lakh.
Mahindra's flagship large SUV offerings, including the XUV700, Scorpio-N, and Scorpio Classic, now feature total customer benefits ranging from ₹1.96 lakh to ₹2.24 lakh. Meanwhile, the popular Thar and Thar ROXX variants provide total advantages of ₹1.55 lakh and ₹1.53 lakh respectively.
Post-revision, M&M's ICE vehicle ex-showroom pricing structure now commences at ₹7.28 lakh for the XUV3XO model and ₹13.19 lakh for the XUV700.
These pricing adjustments, extending beyond standard GST advantages, are anticipated to enhance market competitiveness while expanding consumer choice options. M&M's pricing strategy demonstrates manufacturers' efforts to maintain strong market positioning within India's expanding SUV category, particularly as market leader Maruti Suzuki pursues dominance in the high-volume mid-size SUV sector through its Victoris model introduction.
The enhanced incentive programmes arrive as the automotive industry confronts elevated inventory levels following a sharp decline in vehicle sales since mid-August, triggered by anticipated GST rate structure modifications. To stimulate sales prior to the festive season and GST 2.0 implementation, manufacturers have introduced substantial discounts across their product portfolios.
