In a move aimed at prioritising the well-being of truck drivers, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has mandated air-conditioned driver compartments in all trucks. Nitin Gadkari, the Minister of Road Transport and Highways, recently announced this progressive step to improve the working conditions of truck drivers across the country. The decision reflects a commitment to ensure the health and safety of these essential workers, who play a vital role in the nation's economy.
Nitin Gadkari emphasised the importance of providing suitable working conditions for truck drivers by stating, "We must acknowledge the hardships faced by truck drivers, who spend long hours on the road, often facing extreme weather conditions." With this new regulation, the government aims to address the challenges posed by the sweltering heat during the summer months and the intense cold during the winter.
