As the name suggests, only 33 units of the Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale will be produced.
Alfa Romeo has unveiled its latest creation to the world in the form of the 33 Stradale. The Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale will be limited to only 33 units and clearly pays tribute to the legendary mid-engined 33 Stradale from the 1960s. In fact, only 18 models of the original 33 Stradale ever left the factory floor. This brand new 33 Stradale then is a modern rendition of a bygone legend from the automotive industry.
Jean-Philippe Imparato, CEO of Alfa Romeo, commented, “With the new 33 Stradale, we wanted to create something that lived up to our past, to serve the brand and to make the Alfisti fandom proud. Such a result could only have been achieved thanks to the expertise, hard work and passion of our team, with the support of management who have the clear ambition to contribute to writing chapters in the brand's future, in full respect of its unique history. This is the brand's first “fuoriserie” (custom-built) car since 1969, and I promise it won't be the last.”
The Italian automaker, which is a part of the Stellantis group, also said that the new 33 Stradale has been created at the newly founded Alfa Romeo Bottega, which is inspired by Renaissance workshops and by 1960s coachbuilders, all of whom created works of art of pure beauty, according to their clients’ requirements. The Bottega is headquartered in the Sala del Consiglio of the Museum in Arese, where the design of the 33 Stradale was approved in 1967.
Furthermore, the undeniably gorgeous 33 Stradale borrows a lot of its parts from Maserati. The chassis components come from the MC20 and both sports cars even have the same wheelbase. Both are powered by the same 3.0-litre, V6 that produces 618 bhp. They also share the 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Apart from this, there’s also an electric-powered version with 750 bhp and a claimed WLTP range of 450 km. Alfa Romeo claims a top speed of 333 km/h and a 0 to 100 kmph time of under 3 seconds.
The Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale also comes with goodies like a limited-slip differential, front axle lift system, active suspension, launch-control system and two driving modes - Strada (road) and Pista (track). It also has a number of standout features like lift-up doors and an aluminium H-frame and carbon fibre monocoque chassis. On the inside, Alfa continues with the theme of retro styling with a modern touch, which plays especially well with the physical buttons in the centre console.
To instill the 33 Stradale’s handling with F1 prowess, the company says the car’s tuning will be supported by F1 driver Valtteri Bottas, on the legendary Balocco track. Alfa Romeo will be employing the Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera coachbuilders to help build the 33 Stradale. If you’re planning to snatch one up, it’s already too late. Alfa Romeo has confirmed that all 33 units of their brand limited-edition sports car have already sold.
