The coming months see launches of SUVs, performance sedans and EVs.

If you’re planning to purchase a new car or SUV in the coming days, you should take a look at this list of upcoming cars and SUVs before making a decision. From SUVs to performance sedans to EVs, coming months have everything for everyone.

1) Mercedes-Benz GLE facelift

2023

The GLE has been a popular nameplate for Mercedes-Benz in India. The facelift for the fourth-gen model was globally revealed earlier this year, and it will launch in India on November 2. The GLE facelift gets a revised front bumper, tweaked LED headlights, new alloy wheels and redesigned tail-lights. It also gets Mercedes’ latest-gen steering wheel, chrome treatment to the air vents and new interior upholstery colour options. Globally, the SUV has three engine options – 450 4Matic petrol, 300d 4Matic diesel and 450d 4Matic diesel. It remains to be seen which engine options will the India-spec model get.

2) Mercedes-AMG C 43 4Matic

2023

The C 43 4Matic performance sedan is all set to make a comeback with the latest, fifth-generation model of the C-Class on November 2 along with the GLE facelift.. The previous model proved to be successful for the brand and Mercedes-Benz currently does not offer any performance model for its luxury sedan. The C 43 4Matic is powered by a 1,991 cc inline four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine producing 402 bhp and 500 Nm of torque. It delivers this power via a 9-speed automatic gearbox to a rear-biased all-wheel drive system.

3) Tata Punch EV

Tata

Tata started the micro SUV segment in India with the Punch and will be the first to launch an electric micro SUV as well. The Punch EV, slated to be launched in the festive season, will be based on Tata Motors’ ALFA platform which also underpins the Altroz. The Punch will be the fourth EV in Tata Motors line-up following the Nexon, Tiago and Tigor EVs. Not much is known about the Punch EV but it is likely that it will get multiple battery and charging options like its siblings. Media reports suggest that the Punch EV is likely to get a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen, a single-pane sunroof and Tata Motors’ new two-spoke steering wheel.

4) Fisker Ocean

2023

A few months ago, Fisker announced that it will launch the Ocean electric SUV in India before the end of this year. The American EV maker will launch the Ocean in the top-spec Extreme trim. The India-spec model will be limited to just 100 units and will be called the Vigyan Edition. The Ocean Extreme gets a 113kWh battery and dual electric motors that produce 564 bhp and 737 Nm of torque. Fisker claims the Ocean Extreme has a range of up to 707 km (WLTP) on a single charge.

5) Toyota Taisor

The Toyota Taisor is essentially a badge-engineered version of the Maruti Suzuki Fronx, and is expected to arrive in the coming weeks. Currently, the two manufacturers share three products – Grand Vitara/ Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Innova Hycross/ Invicto and Ertiga/ Rumion. The Taisor will be the fourth such product in Toyota’s line-up and fill the gap left by the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza-based Toyota Urban Cruiser. Under the hood, the Taisor is expected to get a 88 bhp, 113 Nm, 1.2-litre petrol engine and a 99 bhp, 148 Nm, 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine. While both are mated 5-speed manual gearbox, the petrol engine gets a 5-speed AMT and the turbocharged petrol engine gets a 6-speed torque converter automatic. Expect the Taisor to have slightly different styling than the Fronx.

6) BYD Seal

2023

BYD first showcased the Seal electric sedan to the Indian public at Auto Expo 2023 in January. The Seal, which is expected to launch in the coming weeks, gets interesting details such as a coupe-like all-glass roof, flush-fitting door handles, a full-width LED light bar at the back and boomerang-shaped LED daytime running lights. Like all BYD models, the Seal also gets a rotating infotainment touchscreen which measures 15.6-inch. It also gets a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and two wireless charging pads. BYD claims the Seal has a claimed range of up to 700 km and gets two battery options – a 61.4 kWh unit and an 82.5 kWh unit.
