The Maruti Suzuki Brezza is one of the most popular compact SUVs in the Indian market. Its muscular design, excellent performance, and impressive fuel efficiency make it a great value-for-money option in its segment. The latest iteration of the SUV gets a premium exterior design, upmarket features and better safety equipment. The new avatar of the Brezza also features better build quality, which is a big step up.
The Maruti Brezza is available with a 1.5-litre petrol engine mated to a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission. The engine also gets Smart Hybrid technology for improved fuel efficiency. It has also received a 4-star rating in crash tests conducted by the Global NCAP (New Car Assessment Program), making it one of the safest cars in its segment. Overall, the Maruti Suzuki Brezza is an excellent option if you are looking for a stylish, fuel-efficient and a value for money compact SUV.
The following sections will elaborate on the exterior design, interior, features, performance and safety of the Maruti Suzuki Brezza.
The Maruti Suzuki Brezza features a sporty and bold exterior design. The SUV features a muscular front grille with a chrome finish and sharp LED headlights that give it a sleek and modern look. The Brezza also has a raised bonnet and prominent wheel arches that add to its aggressive stance. The car's roofline slopes towards the rear, giving it a coupe-like silhouette that adds to its sporty appeal.
The side profile of the Brezza sports blacked-out pillars, stylish alloy wheels, plastic body cladding and roof rails. When viewed from the side, the Brezza looks like a mature SUV with well-balanced body proportions.
The rear profile of the Maruti Brezza looks busy due to a lot of cuts and creases on the tailgate. The sleek split LED tail lights, sporty spoiler, faux skid plate, and black cladding on the bumper add to the premium looks of the SUV. Overall, the Brezza is a premium-looking compact SUV, and the exterior design packs a punch above its price tag. It is a looker, and no wonder it is one of the most popular SUVs in its segment.
The latest avatar of the Maruti Suzuki Brezza features an upmarket interior with a revamped dashboard. It gets a dual-tone treatment, adding to the cabin’s premium quotient. The prominent highlight of the dashboard is the large floating infotainment display that sits on top of the silver accent dashboard trim. The sleek AC vents, silver accents on the door pads, flat-bottom steering wheel and dual-tone seat upholstery make the cabin look upmarket.
However, there are some rough edges in the interior. The fit and finish and the overall quality of the plastics are not up to the mark. Although Maruti Suzuki has revamped the dashboard, the quality could have been much better considering the price bracket of the SUV.
The rear passenger comfort has not been compromised as the bench seat provides good knee room and headroom. The rear occupants also get adjustable headrests (except for the middle passenger), AC vents and a centre armrest with two cup holders.
The Brezza comes with an expansive list of features. It includes a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a heads-up display, an electric sunroof, ambient lighting, cruise control, a wireless charger, an engine start/stop button and connected car features.
The Maruti Suzuki Brezza draws power from a 1.5-litre petrol engine producing 101.6 bhp and 136.8 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox. The Smart Hybrid technology assists the engine, which improves the overall fuel efficiency and helps in strong crawl speed performance, making it easy to drive on traffic-congested roads.
The petrol engine offers a refined experience. However, it is not as brisk as its rivals with the turbo-petrol engine. That being said, the performance is more than enough for daily driving and highway cruising. But if you are into spirited driving, the engine will leave you yearning for more as it lacks outright performance.
The Brezza is a fuel-efficient compact SUV. The petrol manual variant delivers a mileage of 19.89 to 20.15 kmpl, depending on your chosen trim. The automatic version of the SUV will return a claimed mileage of 19.80 kmpl. Brezza’s fuel tank capacity stands at 48 litres; hence the full tank range is good enough for long drives. Note that the mileage figures mentioned here are as per the ARAI (Automotive Research Association of India) rating.
The Maruti Brezza gets standard safety features such as dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, Electronic Stability Program, hill-hold assist, reverse parking sensors, high-speed warning system, front seatbelt reminder, ISOFIX child seat mounts, and day/night inside rearview mirror. The top-spec variants get additional equipment like six airbags, a heads-up display, a 360-degree camera, a rear parking camera and a rear defogger. The Brezza also boasts good build quality, earning it a 4-star safety rating from the Global NCAP crash tests.
