The launch of the AMG GT and GT 63 Pro prompted Mercedes-Benz India to reconsider the AMG Driving Academy.
At the launch of the AMG GT 63 and GT 63 Pro, Mercedes-Benz India MD & CEO, Santosh Iyer, announced that the brand is planning to resume the AMG Driving Academy in India. The AMG Driving Academy has been part of Mercedes-Benz’s AMG Experiences lately, but Iyer said it will come back in a bigger way.
In an interview with Acko Drive, Iyer said, “We used to have an AMG Driving Academy in Buddh Circuit, and I think we are bringing some of that back. Also, when we get the AMG GT and Pro now, we are also going to restart the customer connects, events, and driving academies. We have been doing it in bits and pieces, but now we want to go deeper.”
The AMG Driving Academy is a programme offered by Mercedes-Benz India that provides driving training using various high-performance AMG models. There are various levels of training, from basic to advanced, as well as specialised courses like drift training. Generally, the Driving Academy has been held at the Buddh International Circuit in Noida, and there’s a high chance it will continue to be held there too.
Iyer added that in the last few years, “you have also seen new racetracks coming up, and you have also seen private racetracks coming up. People are investing because they want to enjoy their machines.”
This indicates that there’s a decent demand for such experiences, and given how many people are buying expensive and high-performance cars, it becomes important that the owners and drivers of such machines get the required training to handle their cars in a safe and proper manner. The introduction of more racetracks in the country is a good indication that these owners of high-performance cars care about safe driving environments.
