At ₹ 1.19 lakh, the top-of-the-line Ampere ST falls into a price bracket with several options available in the market.
Ampere has introduced its new electric scooter, Nexus in 2 variants. With a price tag of ₹ 1.19 lakh, the Ampere ST for the higher variant, enters a segment with a number of well-established and feature-rich electric scooters. Here are some of the price based rivals for the Ampere Nexus ST which need to be in your consideration.
This is the latest entrant from Ather in the family scooter market. Priced at ₹ 1.09 lakh (ex-showroom Bengaluru), this scooter offers reasonably sporty performance in a family friendly package. It has the longest seat among all scooters and quite a lot of unique storage quirks. It has a real world range of 105 km with a top speed of 80 kmph. The charging time on the lower variant is 6 hr 30 minutes. This scooter has a lot of integrated intuitive tech on the higher variant but the lower S variant comes only with Bluetooth connectivity for turn-by-turn navigation and gets only the 2.9 kWh battery pack option.
The S1 Pro is the top of the line scooter from Ola's stable. It comes with a price tag of ₹ 1.29 lakh (ex-showroom Bengaluru). This has real world range of 143 km and can do a top speed of 120 kmph. It has got a charging time of 6.5 hrs with a battery pack of 4 kWh. This scooter gets 34 litres of storage space and has top of the line features from Ola. Some of the highlights in terms of features are navigation, cruise control and 4 riding modes with the hyper mode being very quick. This electric scooter is priced a bit higher and thereby offers a lot of premium features as compared to the Ampere Nexus ST.
Coming in at ₹ 1.22 lakh, this is a sporty petrol scooter offering which comes close to the price of the Ampere Nexus ST. The scooter has a 124cc engine offering 10 bhp of power and 10 Nm of torque. It gets 14 inch wheels shot with thick tyres. This adds to its sporty handling and looks. The Aprilia SR 125 has the looks but lacks the practicality quotient. Also the package also feels dated as it has an old analogue tachometer and has not received any major styling or design update for a while. We recommend this as it offers only better performance at a slightly higher price.
Priced at ₹ 1.21 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), the Honda SP160 is a bike which is a commuter that does the workhorse duties while looking modern. The design and colours play a major role giving this commuter a stand apart look from others while not being way overboard. The 162 cc engine is also a moderately powerful unit making 13 bhp and 14 Nm. The seat height is also accessible at 796mm and the seat also is long and roomy. This is a commuter recommendation which comes very close to the pricing of the Amepre Nexus ST.
Lastly, the Bajaj Pulsar N150 is a sporty commuter priced at ₹ 1.24 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). This motorcycle is a blend of modern design language from bajaj with the reliability of a 150cc air cooled engine. This engine makes 14 bhp and 13 Nm which is perfect for city commutes while keeping things interesting. The bike has recently got a new digital instrument cluster with bluetooth connectivity for notification but it does not get navigation. It has basic suspension setup with a telescopic fork and rear monoshock. This gets the option of dual disc brake but that also comes at a higher premium.
