Mahindra Records Highest-Ever Monthly Sales of 1.31 Lakh Units in October

Exports and three-wheelers drove the 9 per cent rise, while SUV growth slowed to 2 per cent even as volumes touched a new high.

The Mahindra XUV 3XO ZNG gives Mahindra an entry point for buyers who want lower running costs without moving to an electric vehicle.

Mahindra & Mahindra sold 1,31,109 vehicles in October 2026, including exports, a 9 per cent increase over the same month last year and, according to the company, its best monthly tally ever. Sport utility vehicle sales in the domestic market reached 73,338 units, also a company record, though the 2 per cent growth was well short of the pace the carmaker has maintained this fiscal.

The SUV figure compares with 71,624 units in October last year. Including exports, utility vehicle dispatches stood at 74,904. For the April-October period, domestic SUV sales are at 4,31,480 units, up 17 per cent from 3,69,194, which suggests that October's gain was modest against the year-to-date run rather than a sign of weakening demand. Mahindra has no passenger car or van volumes, so its passenger vehicle numbers mirror its SUV sales.

The sharper momentum came from other parts of the portfolio. Three-wheeler sales, including electric models, rose 38 per cent to 17,632 units from 12,762, taking the cumulative total for the fiscal so far to 99,690, a 50 per cent increase. Exports climbed 77 per cent to 7,102 vehicles from 4,015, and shipments for the seven months now stand at 37,133 units, up 53 per cent.

Domestic commercial vehicle sales rose 4 per cent to 33,037 units. The split was uneven: light commercial vehicles below two tonnes slipped 4 per cent to 4,383 units, while the 2-3.5 tonne category, the larger of the two, grew 5 per cent to 28,654. Cumulatively, the sub-two-tonne segment is up 23 per cent at 26,278 units and the heavier band is up 16 per cent at 1,63,380.

The 2-3.5 tonne figures include the Bolero Maxx pick-up in its HD 1.9 and HD 2.0 variants, a reminder of how much of Mahindra's small commercial vehicle business rests on pick-ups, where it competes closely with Tata Motors and Ashok Leyland. Three-wheeler and sub-two-tonne numbers include sales by subsidiary Mahindra Last Mile Mobility, and UV numbers include Mahindra Electric Automobile.

Dr Velusamy R, president of the company's automotive business, said the festive season and a refreshed line-up kept demand strong across SUVs, pick-ups and three-wheelers. "Our first CNG vehicle, the XUV 3XO ZNG, has also seen strong traction with customers," he said.

The CNG model is notable because the fuel has so far been the preserve of mass-market hatchbacks and compact sedans, led by Maruti Suzuki and Tata Motors. Its arrival in the compact SUV space gives Mahindra an entry point for buyers who want lower running costs without moving to an electric vehicle.

The October total is the sum of 73,338 domestic SUVs, 33,037 domestic commercial vehicles, 17,632 three-wheelers and 7,102 exports.
