A new iteration of Apple's affordable iPhone SE line could be announced as early as next week, followed by retail availability later this month, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. The launch of the iPhone SE 4 suggests an acceleration of the previously expected spring launch window.
This launch would mark the first update to the iPhone SE line since 2022.
Reports and rumours say that the fourth-generation iPhone SE will mark the most significant redesign in the 'affordable' lineup's history since its debut in 2016.
The iPhone SE 4 is likely to abandon its predecessor's dated home button in favour of a modern full-screen design similar to the iPhone 14, complete with Face ID authentication.
Other notable likely specifications include a 6.1-inch OLED display possibly featuring Dynamic Island technology, Apple's latest A18 processor shared with the upcoming iPhone 16 series, and a significant camera upgrade to a 48-megapixel main sensor.
The front-facing camera is expected to be upgraded to 24 megapixels.
The device may also introduce Apple's first in-house cellular modem, replacing the current Qualcomm components, and will likely adopt USB-C charging to align with current standards.
The announcement is expected to come via press release rather than a dedicated event, consistent with previous iPhone SE launches, Gurman noted.
While specific pricing details remain unknown, the device is likely to maintain its position as Apple's entry-level iPhone option. Following historical patterns, the new model is expected to be available in major markets including India.
