The new Ultra 2 brings performance improvements, software features, and sustainability upgrades.
Apple has officially announced the new Apple Watch Ultra 2, the latest high-end, rugged smartwatch alongside the Series 9. The new Ultra 2 brings performance improvements, software features, and sustainability upgrades.
The Watch Ultra 2 is powered by the new S9 system-in-package (SiP) chip, providing faster processing and enabling new capabilities like on-device Siri processing and the double tap gesture. The double tap lets users quickly control the watch by tapping two fingers together, allowing quick access to apps and features.
Apple also claims the Ultra 2 has its brightest smartwatch display yet at 3000 nits max brightness, 50% higher than the prior model. This allows for better visibility in sunlight. The Watch also runs the new watchOS 10 software, bringing redesigned apps, new watch faces, enhancements to fitness tracking, and other features.
Apple is offering carbon-neutral models of the Ultra 2, with recycled materials in the titanium watch body and band. This marks a major step in Apple's commitment to be carbon-neutral by 2030.
Other updates include a new Modular Ultra watch face, expanded altitude tracking up to 9,000 meters, and Precision Finding support for finding a paired iPhone using ultra-wideband technology.
The Apple Watch Ultra 2 starts at ₹89,900 and will be available starting September 22nd. It comes in a 49mm size with new band colour options.
