Maruti Suzuki India Limited announced its monthly sales figures for April 2023, registering a 13 per cent growth as compared to April 2022. The company sold a total of 137,320 units in April 2023, as compared to 121,995 units sold in April 2022. In April 2023, the country’s largest carmaker recorded a total sale of 160,529 as compared to 150,661 sold in April 2022, registering a 6.55 per cent hike. According to the company, the slow sales in April 2023 are a result of an impact on production due to the shortage of electronic components; however, the company claims to have taken all possible measures to minimise the impact on the buyers.
Maruti Suzuki’s small cars, such as the Maruti Suzuki Alto and the Maruti Suzuki S-Presso, cumulatively registered 14,110 units in April 2023 as compared to 17,137 units in April 2022, recording a degrowth of 18 per cent, while models such as the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Maruti Suzuki Celerio, Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Maruti Suzuki Swift, Maruti Suzuki Swift Tour S, and Maruti Suzuki Wagon R, overall recorded 74,935 units in April 2023, as compared to 59,184 units in April 2022, a growth of 27 per cent.
Maruti Suzuki’s Ciaz sedan recorded 1,017 units in April 2023, as compared to 579 units from the same month last year, a growth of 75.65 per cent, while vehicles such as the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Maruti Suzuki Fronx, Maruti Suzuki XL6, and Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara cumulatively sold 36,754 units in April 2023, registering a growth of 8.29 per cent, compared to 33,941 units sold in April 2022.
In April 2023, the company clocked a total of 143,558 units, including domestic PV, LCV, and sales to other OEMs, recording an increase of 8.55 per cent, as compared to 132,248 units sold in the same month last year. Total exports stand at 16,971 units in April 2023, as compared to 18,413 units sold in April 2022, recording a decrease of 7.83 per cent.
