Hinduja Group backed Ashok Leyland has announced a partnership with Rosmerta Recycling to facilitate scrappage of end-of-life commercial vehicles across the country. Rosmerta Recycling operates a network of authorised Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facilities (RVSFs) across India, where end-of-life vehicles are dismantled in accordance with regulatory requirements while maximising material recovery and supporting circular economy practices.
The collaboration is in line with the Centre's Voluntary Vehicle Modernisation Programme, which aims to encourage the replacement of older, more polluting vehicles with cleaner and more efficient alternatives. It also complements the recently launched Naya Safar Scheme, which seeks to reduce transport-related emissions in the Delhi-NCR region.
Under the partnership, Ashok Leyland will use its dealer network to connect customers with Rosmerta Recycling's authorised scrappage facilities. The initiative is intended to provide an end-to-end vehicle scrappage process, including assistance with deregistration and other statutory documentation.
"India has a significant population of ageing commercial vehicles, making an organised, transparent and customer-friendly scrappage ecosystem essential. Through our partnership with Rosmerta Recycling, we are making responsible vehicle disposal simpler while enabling customers to transition to newer, cleaner and more efficient commercial vehicles. This collaboration reinforces Ashok Leyland's commitment to sustainable mobility, circular economy principles and reducing emissions across the vehicle lifecycle," Madhavi Deshmukh, National Sales Head, Ashok Leyland, said in a statement.
As part of the programme, Ashok Leyland customers will be eligible for competitive value for their old vehicles, OEM-linked scrappage benefits on the purchase of new vehicles as well as waivers on road tax and registration charges wherever applicable under government policies.
Ashok Leyland and Rosmerta Recycling said they will work together to encourage the responsible disposal of ageing commercial vehicles while ensuring that the scrappage process remains transparent, compliant and convenient.
