Ather Energy has introduced a voice-enabled interface for its scooters, taking a step towards reducing reliance on screens and in a bid to improve rider interaction. The homegrown electric two-wheeler manufacturer said the feature is now available to all users of its Gen 3 and newer models. The system is built on large language models (LLMs) and natural language processing, thus, allowing riders to operate various functions using spoken commands.

"Future of all interfaces on a two wheeler - voice! We have been excited about it for a long time. Ather pretty much invented the concept of touch screens on 2Ws (being the first to do that on a production bike) and we continue to invest heavily into capabilities and feature sets push the envelope on that front (almost half of our vehicles today ship with a touch TFT and 100% ship with on-board compute and connectivity) we believe the future could very well be one that does not need you to glance at the display at all," Tarun Mehta, co-founder and CEO of Ather Energy wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
Ather’s approach also integrates its Halo smart helmet, enabling a more connected riding experience. The company indicated that voice interaction could enhance usability by simplifying how riders access key features while on the move.
According to Ather, the rollout represents an initial step towards a more responsive vehicle interface, where systems may eventually provide real-time guidance and recommendations. The development reflects a broader shift towards connected and intelligent mobility solutions in the two-wheeler segment.
Meanwhile, Ather Energy said its board will consider a proposal to raise fresh capital at a meeting scheduled for 12 June, according to a regulatory filing released on Tuesday.
