The Rizta electric scooter now accounts for 76 per cent of Ather Energy's total volumes.

Ather Energy has added a new feather to its hat with the Rizta electric scooter sales crossing the three lakh mark, since its launch two years ago. The Ather Rizta is the brand’s first family e-scooter, targeted at the masses, and has been a brisk seller ever since its launch in April 2024. The company announced that the Rizta reached the one lakh sales mark in 11 months of launch, while the three lakh mark has been achieved in another 11 months since. The Rizta now accounts for 76 per cent of the electric two-wheeler maker’s total volumes.

Notably, the Ather Rizta crossed the two lakh sales milestone in December 2025, while the company managed to add another lakh in just five months. The manufacturer has been rapidly expanding its presence across the country, which has played a crucial role in the Rizta’s success. While the brand leads the family e-scooter segment in the southern markets, the company says its market share has grown four times in “middle India,” comprising states such as Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Odisha, from 4.1 per cent in Q1 FY2025 to 17.3 per cent in Q4 FY2026, according to VAHAN data. Ather’s market share in the north has also increased by three-fold across Punjab, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh. The success has catapulted Ather Energy to the third-largest e-scooter player in the segment, behind legacy players Bajaj Auto and TVS Motor Company.

Speaking on the milestone, Ravneet Singh Phokela, Chief Business Officer, Ather Energy, said,
Since its launch, the Rizta was sharply positioned as a family scooter and has resonated extremely well with the family audiences across the country. The Rizta has helped us gain a leadership position in FY 26 in Southern India. Additionally, the Rizta has played a crucial role in expanding our market share in ‘middle India’ by 4X since its launch in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Odisha. In FY'26 the Rizta constituted about 76 per cent of our portfolio and continues to lead our growth.”

Ather shared that nearly 70 per cent of the Rizta’s buyers are families with children. The electric scooter was built around maximising practicality, and offers the largest seat in the segment, measuring 900 mm in length. It also comes with a spacious floorboard, 34 litres of under-seat storage, and a 22-litre frunk. Furthermore, segment-first features such as SkidControl (traction control in Ather speak), along with WhatsApp alerts on the digital display, theft and tow alerts, and more.

Ather updated the Rizta in the last two years since launch, keeping it more relevant. The manufacturer brought a touchscreen interface via an over-the-air (OTA) update in September last year. The feature was not only available on new scooters delivered, but was backward-compatible making it accessible to existing Rizta Z customers.

The Ather Rizta is available in two variants - S and Z - which can be had with either a 2.9 kWh or 3.7 kWh battery pack option. The 2.9 kWh versions promise a range of 123 km (IDC), while the 3.7 kWh version promises 159 km (IDC) on a single charge. Both versions draw power from a PMS motor tuned for 4.3 kW (5.7 bhp) and 22 Nm of peak torque. Prices for the e-scooter start from ₹1.11 lakh for the Rizta S, while the Rizta Z is priced from ₹1.29 lakh (ex-showroom) onwards. Notably, Ather rolled out the battery-as-a-service (BaaS) option with the Rizta bringing down the asking price to ₹76,000 (ex-showroom, without the battery).

Ather Energy is now gearing up to bring its next mainline electric scooter to the market. The upcoming model based on the low-cost EL platform, promises more volumes and growth prospects for the company, especially in the highly competitive sub-₹1 lakh segment. The upcoming EL-based scooter will take on the TVS iQube and Bajaj Chetak range, which are more competitively priced alternatives.
