The Ather Rizta continues to contribute the maximum sales volume for the Bengaluru-based EV company.
Within a year of production, the Ather Rizta has already surpassed the 1 lakh sales milestone, thus making it one of the fastest selling electric scooters in the country. As per the latest SIAM report, Ather Energy had already sold 99,691 units of the family electric scooter between July 2024 to April 2025. All it needed was to sell just 309 units more to achieve this milestone figure and that was already achieved the first week of May 2025.
This momentum has further helped the Ather Rizta become the brand’s best-selling product. It currently contributes 58 per cent of Ather Energy’s sales volume. Moreover, in April 2025, Ather Energy cumulatively retailed 13,663 electric scooters, out of which 73 per cent of the sales consisted of the Rizta with 10,052 units sold.
The popularity of the Rizta clearly stems from the way the brand has packaged the electric family scooter. Ather’s clarion call while launching the Rizta was that it had the biggest seat in the family scooter segment. It even compared the same with the Activa’s seat – a marketing campaign that struck several chords, and the same is now reflected in its sales volume. Even the underseat storage space, at 34-litre, is far superior than the Ather 450 range, and is also one of the biggest in the competition. When we rode the Rizta last year, we really liked the performance of the same as well, which was humble enough and yet quick enough to finish your daily chores comfortably
Moving forward, we expect Ather will find more buyers for the Rizta as it is actively working on expanding its footprint in the country. The brand is already present in Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, aside from its stronghold in Bengaluru and adjoining southern states. Ather also expanded outside of India wherein it entered Sri-Lanka last year with the 450X. We expect the brand to export the Rizta there eventually too. Additionally, it is also working on expanding its R&D facilities with new plants and higher production capacity.
Ather Energy went public earlier this year wherein it plans to raise ₹2,981 crore. At that time the company’s CEO and co-founder, Tarun Mehta exclusively spoke to our Editor-in-Chief, Siddharth Vinayak Patankar, revealing its future plans. The brand is also actively working on updating its in-house developed interface, AtherStack, for new features. These are expected to trickle down to the Rizta as well via OTA updates, which in turn should help further up the ante of the family electric scooter.
