On rivals, the Q9 is expected to go against the BMW X7, Mercedes-Benz GLS and Range Rover
Audi has shown the interior of the Q9, its first full-size SUV, ahead of a world premiere this month. The company says the model will offer six- and seven-seat layouts, electrically operated doors, a panoramic sunroof and a new 4D sound system.
The Q9 is being positioned above the Q7 and is aimed at family use, business travel and long-distance driving. Audi chief executive Gernot Döllner said the model will reflect the brand’s focus on the in-car experience, with premium materials and electric adjustment for the second row.

Audi says the six-seat version will use two individual seats in the middle row with electric adjustment and active ventilation. The seven-seat version will allow all three seats in the second row to take child seats, while the third row can be folded down separately through electric controls.
The Q9 will also get electrically operated doors for the first time in an Audi. They can be opened and closed with a key, the myAudi app, the MMI system, the brake pedal or the seatbelt buckle, while sensors can stop the door if space is tight.

A panoramic sunroof of about 1.5 square metres is part of the package. Audi says the roof can switch between clear and opaque through nine segments, with automatic shading when the car is parked and LED lighting on top trims.
Inside, the Q9 will use contour lighting, an updated Bang & Olufsen sound system with 4D sound, new trim materials and two wireless charging pads with USB-C ports. Audi also says the boot will have a rail system for luggage and a roof rack as standard.

On rivals, the Q9 is expected to go against the BMW X7, Mercedes-Benz GLS and Range Rover, based on reports linked to Audi’s launch plans for global markets. For India, the Q9 is not confirmed yet, but reports suggest it could arrive after the global launch, with timelines mentioned for late 2026, 2027 or later depending on market plans.
