Upon launch in India, Audi SQ8 will lock horns with the likes of Mercedes-Benz GLE 53 AMG and Porsche Cayenne GTS.
Audi will launch a new model in India on 17 March this year. The “Block Your Date” invite does not specify which model will be launched, but it is most likely the Audi SQ8. Likely to be a fully-imported CBU, the SQ8 will be slotted between the standard Q8 and the flagship RS Q8. As expected, the new variant is expected to offer higher levels of performance than the standard Q8 and yet cost much less than the RS Q8.
The SQ8 retains the coupe-SUV silhouette of the standard Q8 but introduces a distinctly sportier character. Up front, it features a large single-frame grille with a more intricate insert pattern and a thicker surround, flanked by sharp LED headlamps. The front bumper incorporates larger side intakes with contrasting silver trim, enhancing its aggressive stance.
In profile, the sloping roofline and pronounced haunches remain intact but the SQ8 differentiates itself with larger multi-spoke alloy wheels — 21 inches as standard — and subtle S badging on the front fenders. Darker exterior accents along the window line and lower body sections further set it apart from the standard Q8.

At the rear, a full-width LED light bar spans the tailgate, while the bumper integrates quad exhaust outlets and a diffuser-style insert for a sportier look. Compared to the regular Q8, the SQ8 appears lower and more planted, though it stops short of the more extreme styling seen on the RS variant.
Cabin Interiors of the SQ8 will be largely similar to the standard Q8 that offers a mix of leather and Alcantara upholstery along with the ‘S’ badging on the seats and steering wheel adds a distinct touch. Like the standard Q8, the SQ8 is expected to come equipped with Audi’s twin-screen MMI interface and a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display featuring S-specific graphics.

Other cabin highlights include multi-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, a head-up display, a Bang & Olufsen sound system, and powered seats with heating, ventilation, and massage functions.

Internationally, the SQ8 is powered by the same 5.0-litre 4-litre twin-turbo V8 petrol engine that propels the RS Q8. However, in the SQ8, this engine is detuned to develop 502 bhp and 770 Nm of peak torque. For reference, the standard Q8 is powered by a 3.0-litre turbo petrol motor that kicks out 336 bhp and 500 Nm of peak torque.

Transmission duties are handled by an eight-speed automatic gearbox that sends power to all four wheels. Audi claims this setup enables the SQ8 to accelerate from 0 to 100 kph in 4.1 seconds.
