In India, Audi SQ8 will go up against the likes of Mercedes-Benz GLE 53 AMG Coupe and Porsche Cayenne GTS.

Audi on Tuesday officially launched the SQ8 in India at a price of ₹1.77 crore (ex-showroom). The SQ8 comes to India as a fully-imported CBU and deliveries are expected to soon. The German marque has started accepting bookings for the upcoming SQ8 in India ahead of its launch on March 17. Interested buyers can reserve an SQ8 by paying a booking fee of ₹5 lakh through the Audi India website or myAudi Connect application.

Audi SQ8: Design & Features

On the outside, the Audi SQ8 closely resembles the standard Q8, with the ‘S’ badge on the tailgate being the most noticeable identifier. Apart from this, the only clear visual distinction is a slightly wider air dam on the front bumper.

At the front, the SQ8 features Audi’s signature Singleframe grille, paired with a sporty bumper that incorporates silver accents. Moving to the rear, the SUV gets a full-width LED light bar, a diffuser-style bumper, quad exhaust outlets, and a roof-mounted spoiler, all of which contribute to its more performance-focused look.

Inside the cabin, the layout remains largely the same as the Q8. The SQ8 continues with Alcantara and leather upholstery, along with two 12.3-inch displays — one for the infotainment system and the other for the digital instrument cluster — both featuring ‘S’-specific graphics. The equipment list is expected to include a panoramic sunroof, head-up display, and powered front seats with heating, ventilation, and massage functions.

Audi SQ8: Powertrain

The Audi SQ8 is powered by a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 TFSI petrol engine that produces 500 bhp and 770 Nm of peak torque. According to Audi, the SUV can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 4.1 seconds, while its top speed is electronically limited to 250 kmph.

Power is sent to all four wheels through Audi’s quattro permanent all-wheel-drive system, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission.
