MG came up with a unique and whimsical crowd-pleaser that blended nostalgia with modern-day marketing.
Exhibitors at giant trade shows use all sorts of tricks to get people to visit their booths and engage with their displays. If people like what they see enough to post it online, they generate buzz for brands and attract even more visitors. A good exhibit can spell the difference between getting lost in the noise among dozens of competitors, and going viral in a way that creates lasting memories and positive brand associations. That’s why Acko Drive has recognised the thought and effort that went into creating the Best Immersive Display at Auto Expo 2025.
JSW MG Motor India, which also won our Best Car Brand Pavilion award, managed to impress and delight its audience at this year’s Auto Expo with a large booth that combined the nostalgia of the storied MG marque with futuristic, aspirational and fun elements. The iconic MG Midget from the ‘60s was showcased alongside the sporty new-age MG Cyberster, and visitors could pick up plenty of branded merch to take home. But undoubtedly one of the quirkiest things at the entire Auto Expo was the ‘My MG Moment’ AI-powered selfie experience.
Visitors who braved the crowds were able to pose for a selfie and choose from one of a dozen classic cars including the MG Midget or historical moments such as the MG K3 breaking speed records in 1933. People's faces were then superimposed onto models in matching vintage clothes, with backgrounds and styles appropriate to the time period. MG offered physical prints to visitors, and a QR code allowing them to save the images to their own phones and post them to social media. Unsurprisingly, the #mymgmoment hashtag on social media is full of examples that people have shared.
