Tata Motors has reported a total sale of 72,753 units for April 2025, reflecting a 6.2 per cent decline compared to the 77,521 units sold in April 2024. Passenger vehicle (PV) sales also reflected a slowdown, falling 5 per cent year-on-year. Tata Motors sold a total of 45,532 PV units in April 2025 compared to 47,983 units in April 2024. Domestic passenger vehicle sales alone accounted for 45,199 units, down 6 per cent from the previous year. In contrast, export sales in the PV segment (PV IB) saw a significant increase of 233 per cent, rising from just 100 units to 333 units. The commercial vehicle (CV) segment, often seen as a key indicator of economic activity, registered an 8 per cent year-on-year drop. In April 2025, the company sold 27,221 commercial vehicles, down from 29,538 units during the same month in the previous year. Within this category, the Small Commercial Vehicles (SCV) and pickup segment suffered the most, with sales falling sharply by 23%, from 11,823 units to 9,131 units. Heavy Commercial Vehicle (HCV) trucks also saw an 8 per cent decline.
However, some sub-segments showed growth; sales of Intermediate and Light Commercial Vehicle (ILMCV) trucks increased by 8 per cent, while passenger carriers posted a 4 per cent rise. Notably, the international business for CVs (CV IB) displayed strong performance, growing by 43 per cent year-on-year—from 1,022 to 1,457 units—though this was from a relatively low base.

For Medium and Heavy Commercial Vehicles (MH&ICV), which include both trucks and buses, domestic sales declined to 12,093 units in April 2025 from 12,722 units in April 2024. When combining domestic and international sales, the total reached 12,760 units—down 3.5 per cent from 13,218 units last year.
