Strong domestic sales is a positive sign for the company as it focuses in the commuter segment.

August turned out to be a great outing for Bajaj Auto as it registered impressive sales figures. The Chakan-based company sold 3,35,178 units last month compared to 2,85,031 units it dispatched in August, 2023. Thereby Bajaj Auto registered a massive overall sales jump of 18%. Domestic sales was a major contributor as the company sold 2,08,621 units in August, 2024 as compared to 1,60,820 units in the same time period last year, a humongous jump of 30%.  Exports improved marginally by 2% as the company shipped out 1,26,557 units last month.

Talking about year-to-date (YTD) sales, Bajaj Auto has clocked a steady 10% growth rate as it dispatched 15,83,686 units. One of the key factors in improving sales of the company has been the Bajaj Chetak. It’s currently the second-highest selling electric scooter in the country and sales have improved massively over the past 6 months. The Bajaj Pulsar range remains the cash cow for the company and sales for the bike have picked up given the new updates.

On the product end, Bajaj recently launched the Pulsar NS400Z, which is the cheapest bike in its segment and rode in the revolutionary Bajaj Freedom 125 CNG bike. Demand for the CNG bike has been above what the company expected and hence it’s now available across 75 dealerships across the nation.

Rajiv Bajaj had mentioned earlier that he sees great opportunity in the 125cc segment, which is currently dominated by the Honda Shine series. Bajaj is gearing up to launch the new Pulsar N125, a sporty 125cc commuter which has potential to cut into Honda’s market share. The company is also working on an all-new platform for the Chetak, which it claims will make the electric scooter even more affordable. On the alternate fuel end, Bajaj is ready with ethanol-powered motorcycles which could be unveiled later this year.
