The 125 cc segment is one of the most exciting segments in the two-wheeler industry. Customers stand to gain not just a slightly more powerful bike but also the added advantage of better features compared to its smaller 100-110 cc options. Consequently, sales in this segment last month showcased a pretty strong trend, with some models even breaching the 2 lakh sales mark. Check out the table below:
Bikes/ Scooters | August 2024, Sales | August, 2023 Sales | Difference |
Honda Activa 125 | 2,16,352 units | 2,03,365 units | +6.39% |
Honda Shine 125 | 1,29,907 units | 83,230 units | +56.08% |
TVS Jupiter 125 | 75,838 units | 57,698 units | +31.44% |
Bajaj Pulsar 125, Pulsar NS125 | 74,072 units | 87,071 units | -14.93% |
Suzuki Access 125 | 64,812 units | 45,945 units | +41.06% |
No surprises here as Honda continues to dominate the 125 cc segment with the Activa 125 and Shine 125 duo. The former is available with the benefit of both 110 cc and 125 cc engine options, which also pushes its sales by quite a number. The Honda Shine 125 is in a league of its own, and if we compare its August 23 sales, sales of the Shine 125 have increased by more than half of last year’s sales in the same month.
At the bottom of the table, Bajaj continues to boast healthy sales figures with the Pulsar 125 and its aggressive naked alternative, the Pulsar NS125. While the Suzuki Access 125 features at the bottom, superseded by TVS with its Jupiter 125 offering. We can expect this number to further increase in the upcoming months, as the latest updates made to the scooter make it look and feel quite the premium affair.
