Auto Sales December 2024: TVS Sold 8 Per Cent More Two-Wheelers

TVS reported that its cumulative sales grew by 7 per cent in December 2024 by retailing 3,21,687 units compared to just 3,01,898 units it retailed in December 2023. Out of which, the company's two-wheelers comprised 3,12,002 units, which was 8 per cent more than the same month last year.

Among two-wheelers, TVS’ motorcycle sales saw a slight dip with 1,44,811 units retailed from last month, compared to the 1,48,049 units it retailed in December 2023. Its scooter sales saw a massive surge of 30 per cent with 1,33,919 units sold last month, compared to the 1,03,167 units it retailed in the same month, last year. This spur in growth can be due to the updated Jupiter 110 which TVS launched in 2024 with sharp looks, more practicality, and new list of features. Also, it was the brand’s EV portfolio that saw a massive spike of 79 per cent. TVS retailed 20,171 units of the iQube last month, which was far more than the 11,288 units it retailed in December 2023. And yet, TVS’ overall two-wheeler sales in the domestic market remained nearly flat at 2,15,075 units, which was a mere 0.4 per cent hike, compared to the 2,14,988 units it retailed in the same month, last year. 

On the other hand, TVS's export business improved significantly, with total exports rising to 1,04,393 units, which is an impressive  22 per cent hike. Two-wheeler exports specifically grew by 29 per cent to 96,927 units. This spur in export business can be attributed to the several efforts of the marque to enhance its global presence. 2025 will be quite exciting for TVS for the brand is slated to launch a new bike powered by the brand new 299 cc, single-cylinder engine called RTX D4.
