Mahindra stands out as the only major automaker in India’s passenger vehicle market with a fully SUV-focused product portfolio.
Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (M&M) closed December 2025 on a robust note, reporting total auto sales of 86,090 vehicles, including exports, marking a year-on-year (YoY) growth of 25 percent. The homegrown automaker marked a sustained momentum across key segments, particularly utility vehicles (UVs) and light commercial vehicles (LCVs), as the calendar year concluded on a positive trajectory.
Mahindra’s total vehicle sales declined by approximately 7% Month-on-Month (MoM) in December compared with November, reflecting a seasonal slowdown post-festive sales and distribution cycle following a relatively strong November performance.
Metric | Dec 2025 | YoY Change (%) | YoY Change (%) |
Total Vehicle Sales (incl. exports) | 86,090 units | +25% | 92,670 units |
Domestic Auto Sales | 83,270 units | — | — |
Total Exports | 2,820 units | -9% | -7% |
The utility vehicle segment continued to be the primary growth driver for Mahindra during the month. Domestic SUV sales stood at 50,946 units in December 2025, reflecting a 23 percent increase compared to the same period last year. On a year-to-date (YTD) basis up to December, domestic utility vehicle sales reached 476,476 units, up 18 percent year-on-year. The strong demand highlights Mahindra’s expanding footprint in the SUV category, supported by a broad product portfolio and sustained consumer interest in the segment.
Category | Dec 2025 | Dec 2024 | YoY Change | Nov 2025 | MoM change | YTD FY26 | YTD FY25 | YTD Change |
Total Passenger Vehicles | 50,946 | 41,424 | +23% | 56,336 | -9% | 476,476 | 402,360 | +18% |
Overall domestic passenger vehicle sales mirrored SUV performance, as the category is entirely driven by utility vehicles for Mahindra. These include the company range of EVs, particularly Electric Origin range of SUVs. Models like the BE 6 and XEV 9E have helped Mahindra gain market share in the electric PV segment. The company hopes to expand its footprint in this space even further in 2026 with the newly-launched XEV 9S and future EV models.
Mahindra also recorded notable gains in its commercial vehicle (CV) business. Domestic sales of commercial vehicles reached 24,786 units in December 2025, representing a 34 percent YoY increase. Within the CV space, the Light Commercial Vehicle (between 2 and 3.5 tonne) category emerged as a key contributor, with sales rising 37 percent to 22,066 units for the month. On a YTD basis, this segment grew 16 percent to 185,012 units.

On the other hand, the LCV (less than 2 tonne) segment posted a moderate YoY growth of 13 percent in December, although YTD volumes showed a marginal decline of 4 percent. Meanwhile, the three-wheeler segment, including electric three-wheelers, reported sales of 7,538 units in December, registering a 31 percent YoY increase. YTD three-wheeler sales grew 28 percent to 82,446 units, reflecting steady demand across last-mile mobility solutions.
