A strategic product lineup and timely market offering aided Suzuki in achieving this record-breaking sales.

Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt. Ltd. (SMIPL) has shattered its previous sales records, achieving an unprecedented milestone in July 2024. The two-wheeler subsidiary of Suzuki Motor Corporation, Japan, reported total sales of 116,714 units, marking an impressive 8% year-on-year growth compared to last year.

SMIPL's domestic sales surpassed the 100,000 unit mark for the first time, with 100,602 units sold in July 2024. This represents a staggering 25% increase from the previous year's figures, signalling a robust demand for Suzuki's two-wheelers in the Indian market. While domestic sales soared, exports declined, with 16,112 units shipped overseas compared to 27,527 units in July 2023.

The company's success can be attributed to its strategic product lineup and timely market offerings. In preparation for the festive season, SMIPL refreshed its scooter range, introducing unique festive colours for popular models like the Suzuki Access 125 and the Suzuki Burgman Street. The 2024 Suzuki Avenis was launched with four new colour combinations featuring bold, futuristic graphics.

This record-breaking performance in July follows a strong showing in June 2024, where SMIPL reported a 9% year-over-year increase in total sales. The company's domestic market has been particularly robust, with a 13% rise in sales compared to the previous year in June.

While Suzuki's scooter portfolio, particularly the Access 125, continues to contribute significantly to its sales success, the company has also made strides in diversifying its offerings. However, the brand made a massive recall for almost 4 lakh models, all of which were manufactured between April 30 to December 3, 2022. Out of which 2,63,788 units are its its bread and butter model, the Access 125, followed by 52,578 units of the Avenis 125 and 72,025 units of the Burgman 125. While owners of these affected models will be contacted by Suzuki, and the problem (about which you can read more here) will be resolved free of cost, this massive recall does leave an impact, especially on the brand’s successful image.
