Honda Cars India Ltd. (HCIL) recorded total sales of 7,524 units in July 2025, a humble effort in the uncertain demand scenario. While the company posted 4,050 units of domestic sales, exports contributed a sizable 3,474 units. In July 2024, Honda Cars India retailed a total of 7,334 units, of which 4,624 units were retailed domestically and 2,710 units were exported. Honda's Elevate, City, and Amaze trio remain attractive to a niche but loyal customer base. Even though month-by-month model-wise data for July 2025 is not possible, based on previous trend and corporate strategy, the Elevate was to shoulder volume growth, but the market trend shows a moderate pick-up only. It faces tough competition from new and newer models like Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and Tata Curvv.

The Honda Amaze remains a reliable mass market entry for sedan customers, particularly in Tier 2/3 segments, but is feeling the strain despite a model change at the end of last year.
The Honda City and its equally capable hybrid sibling, though, have shown sluggish sales in the past few months, with the Volkswagen Virtus, Skoda Slavia and even the Hyundai Verna doing better numbers, as the hybrid model has found limited acceptance due to its premium pricing.

During July 2025, Honda exported 3,474 units, posting a peak year-over-year hike from 2,710 units exported during July 2024, achieving a 28 per cent YoY growth in exports. The Tapukara manufacturing plant continues to serve the right-hand-drive markets of Latin America, ASEAN, and Africa, with the Amaze and City being the prominent export models.

Exports have changed drastically in the last three months, from 2,035 units in May 2025 to 506 units in June, before a dramatic turnabout in July. This is reflective of market-specific alignment of logistics and not consistent international demand.
In a bid to inject much-needed newness into its portfolio and catch the wave of festive fervour, Honda Cars India introduced the Elite Edition of Elevate and Amaze recently.
Special editions boast cosmetic and accessory enhancements in the shape of wireless chargers, foot lamp lighting, and seat covers aimed at injecting the showroom darling with a new lease of life. Elite Editions are constructed on mid-level trims and are being sold as limited-production vehicles to generate short-term demand within the current "Great Honda Fest" promotion. Soon, Honda will also have an electric variant of the Elevate SUV in the works, which will launch globally in 2026.

While there is no indication of the India launch date, the move indicates Honda's incremental but targeted foray into India's steadily emerging EV space, especially in the subcompact and compact SUV segments, which are expected to witness robust growth in the next three years.
